Eagle Two
M2A:
Hi folks. Fished up a black locust bow a few weeks ago for my youngest son. Its a bit of a ceremonial bow as my gift to him for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. However, its as functional as any other bow I've made. I'm not much of an artist with the paint but do my best at it.
Bow is 41 pounds at 25 inches. At 64 inches long it was 2 inches longer than I would have liked to make it but thought the stave felt a bit light and didn't want to chance crystals shooting it in or any other time for that matter. About 1 5/8 inches out of the fades. Trapped the limbs just a bit, but with a knot or 2 close to the sides i didn't trap them much. Overlays are Osage and one of them has a bit of sapwood left on it, that picture kind of focused on the background but going to post it anyhow. I used an old summer camp patch as the grip, laced on with some dogbane cordage. All the paint/art on the back signifies something, but the pattern on the sides was just me having some fun. I heated in some reflex to the outer limbs and it holds about an inch of it right after unstringing. I think that outer limb reflex will be my new thing for awhile I do like how it seems to hold better for me and makes me get the inners working better.
Had him out shooting today, something we have not done for a while. Lot of fun. I had to drop out early after a honey bee got me in the hand but was a blast watching him shoot none the less. Guess thats all I got. gonna leave you all with some pics. Thanks for looking.
Mike

Nice bow Mike. I think your art work looks good, just like the rest of the bow.
