Rawhide-backed Osage
Maxwelliuston:
Hi all - just finished this fella a couple days ago. It was the first soft backing I've done and really the only recurve I've done that I've ended up liking. Also pretty stoked to say that it was my first time seeking out a local osage tree and harvesting some staves for myself - they're not native where I live so I lucked out in finding someone who was ok with me nabbing one of their frontage trees. The bow was built for a giant friend of mine so it had to pull 31". Initially, I wasn't planning on recurves but I knew that draw length from 68" might get a little stacky so I decided to bend some in. This was a real beast of a stave to convince to be straight and had plenty of character on the back that pushed my ring chasing abilities. Overall a really great build experience that resulted in something I'm really proud of
Its 68" ttt and 50# at 31"
