More adhesive woes
JW_Halverson:
I have gone through a number of adhesives for fletching arrows, from Ducco cement to cyanoacrylics of every stripe, and now Bohning's Fletch-Tite Platinum.
Last winter I was pleased with this Fletch-Tite, but today this stuff is worse than useless! It claims a 5 minute clamp time but I am setting the timer for 10 and the stuff is still not setting. The only thing I can think of is that the glue does not like hot and humid weather.
What is your experience? Has someone else had trouble getting this to cure and if so, what were the conditions?
Pat B:
I haven't used Fletch Tite or Duco for years. The main reason I stopped using them is the time it takes to set. Now I use Fletch Tape on the center 2/3 of the fletch and sinew wrap fore and aft.

I can’t stand fletching glue. It never sets up properly. I’ve been using “DAP Rapidfuse” for years. It has a 10 second set up time and I’ve never lost a feather. Stuff is strong, applies easily, and each bottle lasts a long time.
BowEd:
After coating my shafts with gasket lacquer which dries in a minute.I use duco and they stay stuck years and years of use.The combo it seems works well with each other.Even being dunked into a pond a few times.
Duco does take around 35 minutes to cure though.

Yeah, half an hour for A FEATHER just takes the shine off Ducco for me.
