Snake Wrapped Rendezvous Bow
Gordon:
Here are some photos of a long bow that I recently made for taking to black powder rendezvous events. The bow is carved from Oregon cascade yew. It is 64 inches long and pulls 52# at my draw length of 27”. The tips are made from Tule elk antler sheds that were gifted to me by my hunting buddy who collected them from the California Central Valley. I wanted a bow that would standout a bit, so I did a full rattlesnake wrap on the limbs and handle – I think it turned out cool. Per rendezvous rules the bow is shot off the hand instead of an arrow rest and can be shot either right or left-handed. The bow was finished with Tru-Oil and hand rubbed to give a nice satin finish. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Gorgeous bow
bassman211:
Sharp looking bow along with your clothing, and I can tell you are no spring chicken ,so kudos for pulling 52 lbs. That is inspiring.
Gordon:
Thanks for the nice comment superdav
bassman, no I suppose I'm not a spring chicken anymore. But I can handle a 50 lbs. bow without much trouble as long as I practice regularly.
Pappy:
Beautiful bow Gordon as always. Love your work. Pappy
