Hello all,

I have never posted one of my bows here. I've been a fan of the site for a while. I got into bow making about six months ago and have made six or seven functioning bows. This is one I made for my dad. He's in his 70's and pulling a hunting weight bow is difficult due to nerve damage in his hand. It's 30#@ 30". I thought this might be a cool gift for Christmas.

I stained the front and back with iron chloride. I took my inspiration from methods I saw on Stonehill Primitive Bows. The pattern is just shellac (to shield from the iron chloride) then painted with acrylic. I finished with True Oil. I think it turned out pretty well. Tips are deer antler. Arrow plate is my first attempt at an inlay with abalone like shell. I added a rest to make it easier to shoot for the old man. There is a bit of set, and the tips are a bit stiff (still learning). I just wanted to post this here and see what anyone thought. Thank you for any input or pointers in advance.

30# at 30" will be a great shooter.
I like the bow.
Good to see a new poster.

That's great, I bet he'll really love that.  Great looking pattern on the back.  Well done.
