D 97
Piddler:
How many strands are you guys using for a 50# bow. I have a one with recurved tips at 67" and another recurved at 53". Both right at #50. Ive been using 12 strands of B50 but got some D 97 so something new for me.
Also. Should I put a couple strands of B 50 in to pad the loops or not. Will be Flemish Twist. I do not have overlays but can add some if needed.
Thanks
Piddler
bentstick54:
I have been twisting up 12 strand D97 Flemish with Brownell #4 serving, because I can get good arrow nock fit. That’s on Osage with no nock overlays and no padding of loops. Most of my bows are 50# but have a few from 35# to 57# with no issues.
Selfbowman:
8 strands D97 then pad the loops and serving with 2-4 strands. What ever you feel comfortable with.you will give or throw away your B50 is my guess. That’s what I did.
rps3:
10 strands, no padding with tip overlays. Might have to try 8 now.
Chumash:
Less strands = less weight = less comfortable = more nervous = a little faster
I use 12 - 15 strands of Spectra or FF+ (D97 is nearly the same stuff) . In the loops there are 4-6 more strands in the flemish twist. Most of my bows have no tip overlay and are from 45 - 60lbs.
