Tonkin -> Moso Bamboo - Purple Heart - Osage Orange ELB

<< < (2/3) > >>

Lehtis:
Seems that I´m unlucky with bamboos... that rock hard tonkin bamboo decided to pop up a splinter on lower limb after ca. 300 shots...  :-[ During draw I heard loud crack and found the reason.

After some thinking I decided to sand down the whole tonkin back and replace it with moso bamboo.

Lehtis:
After a couple of days I shaped the back and glued new nock pieces. Lower one is regular water buffalo and the upper one is cow horn from a shoe horn I found from flea market. After shaping the nocks I had not to do anything to the tiller but some 12 pounds has lost during the process. Sad for that but this will be the bow I´ll use in the future when my arms have lost their muscle power... or, perhaps, somebody is willing to buy it at good price...

Lehtis:
Some more pics after TruOil...

Lehtis:
Full draw later when I have forced my wife to look at me through camera...

Pappy:
Nice save, beautiful bow. :)
