A very short Montpellier maple bow
(1/1)
Redbow:
This is a bow made from a very small piece of Montpellier maple (Acer monspessulanum) that I had lying around. It is a gift for a friend who will use it for costuming purposes, hence the color. The tiller is far from perfect and I wanted to ask what should be done differenly next time. This one I stopped tillering since I was afraid I will run out of wood, the lower limb looks stiff to me but this bow probably won't be shot at all so I stopped. It is 31 inch ntn and weights a little bit under 18 lbs @ 13 in.
Note that I am very much a beginner (this is probably the third bow I made) so be gentle with me!
willie:
Pretty Bow, the recipient should be pleased with the workmanship.
as for tiller, a little more thickness in the handle area of the next bow will allow the bend to move outwards into the limbs more
Pat B:
I agree with Willie. :OK
Redbow:
Thank you gentlemen!
