Yew Heartwood ridge through the sapwood!
Del the cat:
This Yew stave has heartwood that doesn't run concentric to the growth rings. It comes up through the sapwood along the centre of the back. It suddenly showed as I was reducing the sapwood.
I'm trying a radical solution. I'm carving out the heartwood ridge leaving a groove. Bit like an HLD but with the groove up the back!

What then is your approach to get the back suitable for you? :BB
Del the cat:
I've grooved the back...
willie:
inlay some sapwood? or some sinew?
Del the cat:
I'm hoping it will be fine as is... a nice feature on the finished bow (only 45#)
