M2A:
Good looking arrow you got from Pat Aaron. 2 fletch is a pretty cool style!

I got slowed down on my project with indecision on how to finish it up. All primitive or use modern paints and finishes? Tested out some new ideas on a test shaft, so going to keep to all natural materials. I hate to give a timeline but I'll have the point glued on tomorrow then can have some fun doing something different with this one. Should be all smooth sailing from here.

Nothing special about the fletching, Aaron. After I mounted the two fletch I burned the pattern on a feather burner and that's the way it came out. The tails didn't get burned except for the one. It's only cosmetic. If you'd prefer you can cut the 3 tails off to match the other. Sharp scissors will do the trick.

Ok thanks Pat, I was just curious.  I think it turned out really cool, no scissors to be used on this one  :) it's already got a spot hanging over my work bench.

Pat B:
 :OK

speaking of finishing arrows this project taught me I don't have a good system for finishing arrows.  Once point and fletching is in place I found it very difficult to get a finish on the shaft in those areas...do most of you put a "finish" on shaft after testing the shaft bare?  And then add point and fletching?  what is your way getting a finish on without getting it all over fletching etc?  I guess nothing wrong with a bare, no finish shaft?  Paul
