Lilac bush

(1/2) > >>

bassman211:
My neighbor just cut down a bush that has been growing in that yard for decades. I grew up in this town on the same street, and still live here in a different house. I found 3 limbs that "may" have the potential for a short bow. All the older people in this town called them lilac bushes. I have no idea what species, but the wood is dense, and wonky, and has thorns. the bush  it quit making flowers years ago. Any one have opinions. I am curios. Thank you in advance.

PEARL DRUMS:
Thorns? Lilac doesnt have thorns at all. Sure it not an autumn olive bush?

bassman211:
Not sure of any thing Pearl except that this time next year I will be hacking on them to try, and get a bow out of one. I will research autumn olive bush.

bassman211:
It is lilac but was being choked out by the thorny trees, so I am down to one piece of lilac. Just talked to the neighbor that cut the tree down. That ends that conversation.

Kidder:
If you can’t get a bow, lilac makes a beautiful carved spoon.
