Jim I agree with your observations! I trap the back for that reason . Also it makes the bow more stable stretching over a wider surface and moving the neutral plain. But you are right about over stressing any of the wood. You over stress the back it fails . You over stress the belly it fails.  That’s why my pyramids got wider when putting reflex in the outer limbs. Then the mid limb has the most stress. Getting the thickness in that area requires your skills that I don’t have.🤠 Jim no need for forgiveness we just need more patience.🤠

Jim I hope that last comment was not misunderstood. I was trying to say there was nothing for us to forgive. I to need more patience. That’s why I used the WE word. You have been doing this bow building stuff decades before me.
