Inaugural “junior” bow trade
sleek:
I've started on the bow, but it will be a while before I make more progress. I'm out of town for work for a few months. I'm not in danger of not completing it, I'm just not going to be posting on it a while and wanted everyone to know and understand why.
Muskyman:
I noticed a small pen knot on the edge of my bow and I was wondering if you think it might be a problem for the bow. It’s not real big but it’s close to the edge and comes out about halfway on the side of the limb. Pictures to follow
Middle pic is the side of the limb and bottom pic is the belly of the bow.
Muskyman:
Never mind. I was working on it today and put a caliber on that area and I had it dovetailed a little right there and took my scraper to it and had enough to remove the pen knot. So hopefully it’s all good
Muskyman:
Got a string on the bow today. The more I work on this bow the worse it gets, feels like it anyway.
The first string I put on it was one I had made for another bow and was to short. Tiller was 1 inch different from limb to limb measuring out 12 inches from the center line. So I took some off the stiff limb and now I have it much better but it’s still off 1/8 inch.
Still not really happy with it though. I’ll post pics of it braced.
Next question.
If I cut 1 inch off each end will it increase the draw weight?
It’s 69&1/2 inches ttt right now. I only need 27 inch draw length. I’ve been planning on doing this anyway but seems like I’m getting close to the draw weight I need and still need to do some tillering and sanding yet. I’m hoping it will give me a decent little bump in draw weight. I could use it.
