Great thread!  This shows me that I’ve got some hope for the “junky” staves I have.

Even if you don’t have enough for a bow. You can feel comfortable practicing with scrap. Practice chasing rings. Bending recurves. Shaping tips. Anything you are afraid to do with a good piece of wood

I like using scraps like this for kids' bows.  It's a good, pressure-free way to learn new techniques.  Getting a legit grownup bow out of scraps is an accomplishment.

I like to bring this thread back from time to time. I notice a lot of new members lately and also a post in trading section about being afraid of ruining their expensive wood. This is exactly why I did this thread . To help people who are afraid of trying things because of how expensive their wood is.

I hope it helps some folks try something with scraps. You can learn so much practicing and avoid some of the expensive lessons.
