Glis, don’t know if it would keep its color or not. I wouldn’t kill one just for the skins, although they’re not a bad eating fish. I’ll keep one if it won’t survive getting caught. In musky fishing circles when you eat one they call it going cannibal. If I ever do accidentally kill one I might keep its skin and see what it turns out like.

that's for sure
i'd take the skin AND eat the fish
I may also try to find a use for the bones of such a big fish

I bet the gill plates are large enough to make a functional arrow head or used for carving into a pendant.
