I don't have a unstrung picture of the nocks, but maybe this will illustrate how it's made?

As you can see, the wood peeks through the string slot, and the string has a small spliced loop that is turned into a selftightening loop. A regular loop won't work.




Actually, I've never tried any kind of maple, but I understand it is not too different from ash, so I suppose it would work fine?

Kviljo, that is excellent. It must be also low mass, with walnut and ash. Let us know what distance it does.
