Question about Arrow Weight
ajooter:
What kind of arrow weight are you guys comfortable shooting out of your selfbows? I was always told 10 grains per pound was a good rule of thumb. How light of an arrow are you comfortable shooting without risking damage to the bow (grains per pound wise)?
Pat B:
I like my arrows about 500gr, give or take 5grs to 10grs with bows from 45# to 60#.
ajooter:
Thank you Pat. Just curious. I see some guys shooting some crazy light arrows here and there. Just wanted some perspective. Im sure some of the flight guys push the envelope but they arent shooting those bows nearly as much i wouod assume.
superdav95:
Similar for me. I usually shoot 450grain at 350-400 spine if shooting practice carbons. If using for hunting I usually go with 550grains at 350 spine at 31-32” length. For my heavier poundage bows I’ll bump up to 600+grains with more foc possibly using weighted tip inserts.
bentstick54:
Mine will average between 9 and 11 gpp of draw weight for my Osage selfbows.
