tillering issues
ssrhythm:
The way the pics look and based on where it's balancing on the tillering tree, it appears the upper limb is the left one...correct?
My main hunting bow kinda has that same look with a bit more positive tiller than what most would want. Your's looks to mainly be from that upper limb's greater angle as it leaves the handle where as mine is probably due to some inconsistency with my sinew job.
My positive tiller eases up a bit after I put a few arrows through it, but it shoots great...so I'm not going to mess with it.
Your bow being 55"....have you ever considered backing it with sinew? When my bow started to take the smallest amount of set knowing I was going to make it a recurve, I committed to a sinew job...my first. It was a kinda fun pain in the neck, but after tillering with the sinew on and shooting it in, the bow settled in and still unstrings with the tips well ahead of my handle. With the flipped tips, the 61" bow with 10" stiff handle bends a ton like yours, and it's nice not worrying about the back blowing out on me.
That just looks like the perfect candidate for a sinew job...especially if you are going to flip those tips.
