History has been made! Congratulations Alan Case!
« on: August 26, 2025, 10:37:17 am »
For 2 years Alan has been trying to break the longest distance shot set by Harry Drake. Yesterday Alan finally accomplished this goal. He sent an arrow over a mile in distance.  Thats a far distance considering a few years ago he was struggling to just get past one foot. ;) Alan, you just created a new challenge for someone else to spend a lifetime to chase, and you didnt make it easy for them. Congratulations on a job well done!

Congrats to Alan for an amazing accomplishment. Over a mile with an arrow seems insane.

Incredible feat, Alan. Congratulations.
I'm curious about his equipment also, bow, string, arrow, head, etc.

I think Alan is shooting a foot bow and last I heard he was making composite bamboo arrows

I don't know exactly what he used this time, but previously Alan was using a composite recurve foot bow of his own design and manufacture that pulled 200+lb at whatever the draw length was. The arrows are solid carbon fibre rods less than 12" long that use razor blade stock for fletching. They look very much like big darts rather than a traditional arrow. Alan has said one of the biggest challenges is finding those small arrows after you have shot them over 5000ft away and I don't doubt that at all.

The technical achievement is simply staggering.
