Wing bone calls

That brings up a memory that sticks in my gullet to this day. A friend gifted me with a Tom Turpin trumpet call made of simple walnut. It has the sweetest tone and gobblers LOVED IT. And then one day, the dog that never did wrong got a hold of it and chewed it up. I got mad and bellered at her like it was the worst thing any dog had ever done. She was a sensitive dog and it broke her for almost a week. The dog I had never raised a hand against was afraid of me. I'd enter a room and she'd tuck her tail and slink out. Even the smartest dog doesn't understand our words of apology and I was left begging her forgiveness with extra treats and being careful to keep my emotions in check. All that over a piece of walnut and plastic.
I would love to have another Tum Turpin walnut trumpet call, but I'd kill for the chance to go back and undo that bad day with Scully.
