Any tips on restoring old leather?
(1/1)
sleek:
I have an old leather jacket that ive had for over 20 years. I pulled it out the box yesterday and the leather has gone brittle and dry. The collar has cracked and will need work. How do I go about getting it soft again?
Pat B:
If you need to clean it saddle soap works well. For rejuvenation, neatsfoot oil for penetration and I use Montana Pitch Blend(mink oil, bees wax and pine pitch) on all the leather projects I make.

Thanks Pat, I'll report back when Im done. Ill try that.
Mo_coon-catcher:
I agree with Pat. If you don’t have Neats foot oil, Extra Virgin Olive oil can work to condition leather as well. It just doesn’t take much.
