Thank you, selfbowman. Shoots fine also and it carries current Finnish Record in Flint Round (IFAA rules), 224.

Im starting a build on a bow similar to yours now arvin.  I will post a new thread with pics and measurements on there as I dont want to hijack your thread here.  Check it out if you like.  Im hoping to get good results for potential flight.  we shall see how it goes.  love your builds brother keep em coming!

Dave here is the bow that broke broadhead records On the caul it was built from. The top caul and bow blank is what I’m working on. The record bow is 1-3/16 at the fades and straight pyramid to 5/16 at tip. Mid limb 1” wide. The bow preformed good but took lots of set. The bow 🙇‍♀️ Im currently working on is 1-1/2” at fades 1-1/4” mid limb and 1/2” at tips right now to be reduced.so the extra width at the areas it took set should help in set. Reversing the bamboo to the belly well it’s a experiment. Just to let you guys see before and after comparison.

Yes. You will make this work I have no doubt.  I had it in my head for some reason you were doing a similar bow to the record bow but now realize it’s the reverse.  Very cool.  Talk about a mental block!

I have the boo strips  coughed out now the thickness nightmare same size handle, same length. Try to get close to mass?? Go with thickness of the limbs of the record bow?? A little of both???  God please help me!!!

Ok if I did my math right the record bow weighs 19.4 oz the Osage bow blank weighs  25.4 oz, the strips weigh 6 oz . 31.4 oz -3oz our for the handle is 28.4 oz -19.4 oz I should need to remove 9oz according to the related math bowyer!🤠🤠🤠

Addition and subtraction looks right to me. I would approach slowly in consideration of not knowing how much difference there is between the tension strength and compression strength of the bamboo.

Ok.bentstick how much is that???🤠🤠🤠🤠 The bamboo I prepared is thinner than what I put on the back of the other bow. But the record bow is 1-1/4” wide at the fades and 1” wide at mid limb. The new bow is 1-5/8” wide at fades and 1-1/4” wide at mid limb. So it’s hard to compare the two. Finding the neutral plane without building hundreds of bows  is impossible. So I’m going to have to depend on a lot of luck here. I feel lucky.🤠🤠🤠

Afraid all I can do is wish you luck and keep watching Arvin. I’m afraid I do most of my measuring with my fingers.

Curious how the tiller and draw weight will be.

Wishing you Good Luck

Really cool experiment Arvin. I hope it turns out well. I imagine it’s a hard scenario to predict the effect of the laminations on the weight of the bow. I wonder if for this method you could hollow out most of the inner fibers of bamboo and flatten out the rind that is doing all the work. Would make it very thin and flat. Not necessarily a suggestion for this one but a thought on the potential in general.
