stone points on cain

  I have made and hafted a few stone points on cain, i have hafted them strait to the shaft and i have also used forshafts. how do you guys haft your points to cain?

Straight to the cane, I find foreshafts to be a pain in the butt and something else to impede penetration. A couple thousand years worth of Cherokee arrowmakers did just fine with cane arrows without foreshafts. If it's thick-walled cane with a small hole, I just cut them straight in. If it's got a bigger center hole, I'll sometimes plug it before cutting the slot.

JackCrafty:
IMO, foreshafts look cool.  I like 'em.  They also tend to make the arrow tip-heavy....a big plus for me because I like shooting wooden tipped arrows (i.e., sharpened foreshafts.)  Also, they are easier to repair/replace than the entire arrow. ;D
