Platform, platform, PLATFORM!!!!

Well, got done doing a real nice point tonight.  I have come to the conclusion that obsidian must have platforms to get it thin. You don't platform you just wont get obsidian thin! In fact I made my first real thin one and it is a beautifully little point! Even when you are pressure flaking you must platform! I made platform as I went while pressure flaking and it got it even thinner!!! Obsidian is now my favorite stone! Easy to work and just plane PURTY!!!!

That doesn't just apply to obsidian, it's pretty much true of everything. If I make a nice point, it's usually because I made myself take the time to really prepare good platforms for both pressure and percussion.

Whats a platform? I make all my points by dripping hot water on cold rock  O:)
