fletching wrap

Don:
Been making traditional arrows for a while but now I want to make some primitive arrows.
What I need to know is.
When tying on the fletching, how do you finish off the string material so it does not make a large knot or come unraveled?
Would you finish it off like when doing serving?
I've looked at several pictures on different posts but couldn't quite tell.

Don, I finish it off just like a serving. Makes a smooth transition.      Pat

If I'm using thread, I do like Pat-lay a loop down, wrap the last few wraps over it, then put the tag end through the loop and pull it back under the last few wraps. With sinew, I chew it and put it on wet-the sinew is self-adhesive-it contains its own glue, and shrinks as it dries, so you don't have to tie any kind of knot.

I was thinking it was done that way just not sure.
I'll have to waite till this fall for the sinew. Should have been keepimg it.

The thread I use is too weak for the "serving" method....so I just use glue to start and finish the serving.  TB glue sets fast and cleans up easy, so that's what I use if I'm not using hide glue.

I put some glue on the shaft, start wrapping, then put some glue over the entire wrapping to finish off.  The glue easily holds down the loose end of the thread (if the thread is not too thick).
