Good Medicine Ground Hog
« on: July 12, 2008, 08:42:08 pm »
I finally managed to get a nice size ground hog... today he managed to see or smell me about 5 or 6 times and many times before today.... i was waiting for another hog to come from his hole when i figured id look over to where id seen this one before, well there he was at about 10-15 yards, i drew shot and hit him in the back, he flipped around and growled and came straight at me i shot again as he ran and missed, no i thought hes gonna find his hole but he was going to the other side and missed his hole and rolled towards me dieing as he moved, well i take no chances in suffering and finished him by slamming him hard a few times.
i used my red oak self bow, 53# ash arrows tipped with trade points,

Way to go! Those whistlepigs are a tough challenge with a bow.

Congrats HT! That'll undoubtably help prepare ya for the bigger game this fall. I've never tried "whistle pig" but sounds like some good eatin ;).

HEy HT,

Man, that's awesome!  You are now part of a very small and exclusive fraternity.  Regardless of whether you kill a bumblebee or a bull elk, anything taken with your own handmade bow is a trophy.

Congrats Hunter, and best of luck this fall

Hey Cowboy, They are good eating.  Cook them with potatoes, carrots, and maybe some dumplings, all smothered in a white gravy.  Thats how I had them the first time. ;)
