Flax (linen) question?

(1/3) > >>

ricktrojanowski:
Does anybody know where I can buy some unprocessed flax for cordage.  Is it possible to grow your own in the northeast?

JackCrafty:
Google "flax strick" and click on the first link: www.....farm.com

I think this is where I bought mine....I'll have to check.  Anyway, the flax will be a bit smelly and difficult to separate into thin bundles (without messing up the strick).  I recommend talking to someone who actually weaves with the stuff.

Yes, I think it's possible to grow flax almost anywhere....others will chime in I'm sure.

ricktrojanowski:
I'll give it a look. Thanks for the info.

Huaco:
Just don't try growing "Hemp" in your back yard... PoPo might not like that too much.  I have been thinking about starting some flax in a section of my back yard.  Seems like it is a pretty hardy plant.  Bet it will grow in South Carolina.

rick look for fireworks supply online. i prefer the unwaxed natural string rather than the waxed and bleached. it is stronger and makes a smother string
