getting better at lenticular

(1/1)

DirtyDan:
This is a green jasper point that I just made.  I tried very hard to thin the base with at least four passes before I even tried to thin the middle and point.  I have always had difficulty with getting the lenticular shape and I think that thinning the base is what I was neglecting.  I know that notching is much easier when the base is thin also.

Thats a real good job, i had a probelm getting them good and thin for a while, but i was just using a hammerstone, when i switched to antler i started getting them thin and even.  keep up the good chippin- Ryan

Otoe Bow:
Great looking point.  That jasper is pretty stuff.  Thinning is still a problem for me.  One side always has a "hump"  to it and the whole point has an end profile like a football.  At least now they look like good old American footballs and not the European type.   ???
