New Osage Bow (New pics added for OldBow)

Well I finally finished another Osage. I cut this tree in May '08 and when I split it I had this little stave that i thought was to small to do anything with. After looking at it for about a week I decided to quick dry it and try to make a bow from it since I'd be waiting on the others to dry anyway. Turns out this little stave really wanted to be a bow. This thing really flings an arra. Nothin' fancy just plain and simple. It has taken no set and I've put 60+ arras thru it so far.

Great work and good looking bow.  I say use the wood even if it is to small or too ugly. If it breaks its not a failure, it is a learning experience.  ;)

nice little eastern woodlands style bow.  for your draw length you could take an inch or so off each tip and bump up the poundage for a first class hunting bow.

Thanks for the replies guys. Glad you like it... I really do.

Mechslasher, I've put serious thought into cutting the tips back an inch, but man she really shoots sweet. How many pounds will be added if I take an inch off of each limb and could that change the smoothness of the draw?

I think if you cut the tips back and inch it would give you 5-7 lbs. But I wouldn't. Unless you plan on hunting bear it should be enough to kill anything in the woods with a good arrow. Also, if you feel like it shoots sweet right now, then the bow is talking to you and trying to tell you that this is how it likes to be. It may not shoot as sweet if you take its length down 2 inches. A nice long draw length and easy weight provide good arrow placement and that's what really counts. Just my opinion.
