Wow, lumpy bumpy's right :). That bow's looking sharp - can't wait for the full draw. She's gonna love it!

Thanks everyone! I came upon this stave by accident. I was cutting a big leaning dead red oak tree for fire wood and it fell and knocked this little maple tree over and simultaneously striped the bark completely off and split it. When I saw how cool and lumpy it was I couldn't pass it up so I brought it home and roughed it out and threw it in the hot box. I never would have cut that tree in a million years for a stave from the way it looked from the bark on the outside. I guess it was "just meant to be a bow".  ;)  ;D

Very nice bow. Your handle reminds me of a osage I did a few years back. Big knot in the middle of the handle. Looks like a revers handle bow.

Cool stuff, almost looks like diamond willow.  What made it grow that way, ants?  I cut a little elm that had the dark spots like that, ants came pouring out of the bottom of the log.

Thanks guys, I'm not sure what caused the bumps or the black spots ? No ants were in the tree when I cut it.
It is what we call sugar maple or Rock hard maple Alex.
