1st Osage Bow
« on: September 11, 2008, 08:26:44 pm »
This is my first osage bow and the first time I did snake skins. I have to say that osage works like soft butter :) It really surprised me how easy
it is to rasp and scrape and as you all know it turns into taffy with just a little heat. Although the tiller is not perfect it shoots hard and fast
and the set is minimal overall I'm very pleased with the outcome. In the full draw pics I'm drawing 25.5", I was aiming for 50# but 47 will work just fine.
This is my bow of choice for deer season this year hope to take my first selfbow deer and will be shooting stone points :)

The stats:
47#@26"
57.5" NTN 1.25" wide out of the grip, 7/16" tips
Lilac(Syringa) overlays and rattler skins from Gary Davis
Mass = 15.5ounces

Very nice. I love the limb tips.
What did you use for a grip wrap? It looks like hemp.

  Looks good to me, Dana. I don't see what you mean about the tiller being off. I bet you get that yella' fever now.
