My deer arrows didn't work too good on hogs.

cowboy:
I've been meaning to show the results of my hog huntin attempt. Stood in my tree for several hours waiting on a deer that never showed up because all I could hear the entire morning were hogs squealling and raising a ruckus. I climbed down and went hawg stalking, could'nt get any closer than about 30 yards - they were out grazing in the open. I didn't count em but looked to be about 25 to 30 head. The big boar (I guestimate 400 lbs) was busy with a sow in heat, there was about 10 other boars prodding and making noise and then the sows and piggies. I went ahead and let fly - the first shot sprayed the closest boar with dirt, second shot went about three inches over big daddy's back, third shot was wild, fourth shot bounced off another boars ham bone. Only had three arra's, that fourth shot was the only good one left and it broke on the bone - I gotta shoot more :'(.

No bacon today. Those hogs are pretty tough. Good luck with the rest of the season!

Papa Matt:
Cowboy, sounds to me like part of the problem might have been so many hogs and distractions (noises) instead of one quiet animal. All that can cause a person to not be able to focus. I wouldn't sweat it that much. Could be not so much that you have to shoot more, but maybe that you gotta harden your nerves in the face of distraction. I can't say for sure or not if that's it, but I know it's something I am working on.

Use OBSIDIAN!!!!! I think you must still have some of that stuff laying arround. Its sharper and will slice them little piggies right up. I really want to hog hunt one of these days!!!!

Papa Matt:
At least Cowboy has wild hogs where he lives and can step back out and try again another day. I'd have to drive several hours to get to an area like that. I wish we did have 'em here in Indiana.
