Killed a spike on a Ohio camping trip.
Ryano:
Here's a picture of me at camp with my little spike horn buck. We camped from wendsday evening to sunday, I shot this guy Saturday morning about 9:00am. Only being there for 4 days I wasn't passing up any shot opportunity's. He came in from behind me and got by my stand about 20 yards to my right before I could get a shot. Then he got down wind of me and spooked and ran back the way he came from and paused for a brief moment at around 30 yards or so. Farther than I would normally consider shooting but I figured it may be my only opportunity, so I cranked back my Hawthorne bow and let one fly. I thought I was going to completely miss the deer low but my string slapped my coat sleeve a little bit and and it made a noise and the buck ducked into the shot. The arrow hit him the neck and cut the main artery. He ran about two hundred yards. I never seen such a blood trail. You could see the blood from twenty paces away as we followed it. I guess its better to be lucky than good. You never know what can happen on longer shots like that, the deer has a lot of time to move between the time you let your arrow fly and the time it actually gets there. Guess luck was on my side this time.

Looks pretty big for a spike. Must grow them big in Ohio. Corn fed I guess. Good shooting! Pat
