I made this knife a few years ago for my son for christmas, I dont recall if I posted it yet or not and if so, sorry for the double post. Its made of a bit of rusted leaf spring I found walking a river bottom. I made a few knives of it and this was the last bit. It was pitted so badly I couldnt begin to get the pit marks out so they stay. I straightened it out with heat, and a wooden stump as an anvil. Quuenched in trannyfluid motor oil mix. Its around 57 rockwell. The handle is some unknown wood to me but I used a pencil torch to heat those tiger stripes in. The handle is tied on for now. When my son gwts his first deer, I will pin it with the casing. Eventually when he gets his first bow kill, the arrowhead will also be inlaid.

That's a cool knife! And a great idea for marking milestones for your son. I've got a daughter and two sons, I wanna do something like that for them. Cheers- Brendan
