Pocket Lint 68"ntn, 42@28"
Built this bow under the Twin Oaks Tin for the 2019 SB Challenge during the 22nd Tennessee Classic. It was stashed under my canoe for about 6-7yrs. Cut it behind my place here in Tenn as a 10" dia pin knotty tree. Did not have a lot of wood in handle area so had to add a blank I had made of elm, hedge, elm.
The bottom limb was a bit tough to get to bend with about 7-8 pin knots running down it. Just took it slow until it did finally.
Took about three days from stave to bow. Added the tip overlays after the Challenge was complete at home. Shoots purty good.
We had a great time under the tin building from Monday night thru Thursday. Some really super bows were turned out this year. Thanks to all the Twin Oaks fella's who put in long hours on bows (Anthony, Greg B, Pat B, Gary D, Danny, Will, Pappy). Just a tremendous event and camaraderie!

Funny thing about pocket lint. While digging for it you sometimes find simething worth keeping.

Great looking bow Shawn! You were shooting that bow really good.
-
With those hand picked 40-45 PO’s shafts from Wapiti that Dan did a magnificent job on , it shoots itself really. Just dead as 5 O’clock in yer hand with those 550 grn arrows.
Wish i got to shoot it with you again with the Copperhead Clint.
Left Sunday afternoon went to work finishing this skinning shed with shelves installed doors locks etc. never ends does it?

I'm pretty sure it's more than just the arrows Shawn. By the successful hunting you've been doing, I'm guessing your a pretty decent shot.

Congrats one that one,,,I miss shooting in tenn

I really like the bend on that bow especially with the character in the limbs. That grip looks like it would account for consistent hand placement. Something I find very important for good accuracy. Excellent job.
-
Very good work. Your bow curves a little more in the lower limb where it has a little kink when not braced. That means you have done a GOOD job of tillering. Saw you coming and going a lot at the Classic, but didn't get to gab much.
-
Yes Jim
Good to see you. Helped a bunch of guys building bows Mon -Thurs. Finished four complete bows.
That piece of hedge I had stashed was a Challenge for sure. Think the bottom limb had 6 large pin knots right up the middle. Stayed up one night there and finished out that limb entirely.

Is that the bow you shot with me Saturday?
-
Think I shot another Scott. Shot that 70" with you and Scott S. Had fun with you guys.

Great looking bow. Love the character in that one. Nicely done!

This is not the bow in the pic. That is a limb bow I just finished but Bill dug up the award from 2019's Self Bow Challenge I shot with Pocket Lint. Bill napped the point on the award. For a for knotted up small dia Hedge bow it shot purty well for those 41 targets at the Tennessee Classic. Almost not enough to make a bow. Was a challenge.

That's a beaut man! 😎

Saw that bow in the cabin last night siting with some fine company!

Here's Pocket hanging in the skinning shed with a bunch more Lint pals.

-
Wow, how did you get that thing through the door!? That's a big set of antlers.
-
Was not a door hung when I brought them in. Kinda built shed around him . That old bull over watches my skinning operations. The native American and Magyar blood runs easy with him watching me. Lots folks have seen them in 2018 they were hung on Pappy's kitchen face the Saturday night potluck line. I remember standing in line that night hearing the guys and gals say "holy moly that is one big elk". He was, public land 2013 MT. Only seen bigger bodied elk never a bigger rack in mountains.
Where I keep my hunting clothes, stands, etc. Pocket Lint hangs out with good company.

That’s very cool. The little high spot you left around the knot reminds me of the beaver tail design from my trade gun.
-
What is the color on that lock and trigger guard? Is that paint or is that the metal color? I really like with that stock color.
That stave in Link was just a series of knots from top to bottom. Could built up a leather or cork handle on it but it was more expedient to just glue on some wood and get to scraping it off.

“Cold Brown”. About three coats, then neutralized. Some folks say it’s lipstick on a pig, but I like it.
-
Cerra coat?
