I consider anything over 1.5" a pretty long flake.

There are a lot of circumstances that control a flakes length. Under the right conditions 1.5 - 2in . That's with my Ishi stick.

Man I must be doing something wrong, I would be happy with 3/4" Please explain how to get pressure flakes 1 1/2" long.

Ok, just using a hand pressure flaker I’m mostly getting ½ to ¾ flakes but I have driven off a few inch and a half flakes (most of the time when I didn’t want too and I took off the opposite edge of the point with an overshot.)

I mainly only make hunting points but a 1 1/2's killer.I've never start out with materal for one that long. I think 1/2 to 3/4's really good. I've got to get out of the closet more often.
