Bow racks have been covered before in a number of threads, but most of them are very utilitarian and not made to look good. I want to make one that is a nice display piece to put on the wall in my office and hang a few bows on.
BowEd (I think it was) had a nice looking one but it lays the bows horizontally and I don't have enough wall space to do that. I want it to have 4-5 pegs to hang bows from, which is no problem to make, but I am looking for design ideas to fancy it up some.
All pictures/ideas/links welcome.
Thanks,
Mark

I made some bow racks from an old weather cracked osage log with crazy grain.

Cool rack Clint. There are some pieces that just don't deserve to be firewood.I like the look of some knotty red cedar planking also.

Some characterish off cuts from squareing up logs at sawmills are a good place to find pieces. If they hav'nt sold them for firewood already.
Splits from logs etc. too.
I've got a foot wide weathered osage snaky grained plank setting against the shed I should get after too.
My problem is room on the walls is pretty minimal these days.....ha ha.

The next elk shed I find is going on my shop wall. Insta-bow rack!

Clint, that's the coolest bow rack I've ever seen. Nice job.

Very nice, gentlemen. I was thinking more furniture like out of cherry or alder boards but I like the natural pieces of wood. I have some lodgepole pine and cottonwood boards I hand cut from downed trees on our property with a chainsaw, I will see what I can find in there.

Here's one I made with a piece of scrap osage and deer antlers.

This is the other side of the log. I made two smaller racks for each side of a window.

Very cool. I like that. Gonna have to start thinking about this as I have accumulated too many bows myself and need to display them better. It’s better then leaning them against the wall which I know is a no no.
Here’s my current rack! Lol. The lazy man’s rack…

You guys are knocking it outta the park here, that looks great. How did you mount the antler tips to the osage?

I screwed those antler pieces on with deck screws. Make sure their bases are ground perfectly flat and to the angle each piece needs to hold bows appropriately... and drill a pilot hole in the antler while holding it in place against the board.
I thought if any moved I'd add epoxy to them, but they're very solid and nothing has moved.
