Fellas,I am tickled.My son-in law,Zach, shot his first deer EVER this morning,with all self equipment.He moved to an area with 3 fresh scrapes,and was rewarded with a 8 yard shot,double-lunged him,great blood trail,and a 40 yard pile-up. He used his 3rd,and latest bow,a 48" silk-backed osage D-bow,50#@25".His arrow was one of our switch-canes with a band-saw trade point.He just started huntin' a couple of years ago,after joinin' our family,and I'll say he's off to a great start!!! All he could say was ,"that was awesome",(Y'all remember the first one,dont you?)I think it would be safe to say he's a "Lifer",from this point on. Oh yea,we got him back to the house,cut up and on ice,and still made it in time for church this morning. God Bless
Here's a couple of pictures;

Congrats on a nice deer and a clean kill.

i really like that little bow. seems like it would be alot easyer to use in thick brush than my 6 1/2 foot hickory. :-\
-
Recurve shooter,your right,these short bows are great in the brush.The first 9 years I built bows,about 65" was the shortest I built.Then this past year, I tried shorter bows,mainly from seeing some of those being posted on this site.I really like them,and they perform very well , so,I'm hooked om em.God Bless

Wish I would have had a mentor like that when I was his age... That is great! Way to pass it on.... ;)
-
might need to get me one of them little bows. do they shoot well? more importantly do they draw 28 inches?
-
Recurve shooter.Yes these short bows shoot well.I know you've seen some of the great "shorties" posted on this site,by several outstanding bowyers.I've seen several in the lower 50" range tillered to 28".Zach's bow,which is 48" tip to tip, is tillered to 25" to lessen set,since that is his normal draw lenght.I have taken a 58'' osage bow to 28" draw,with very little set,but usually don't exceed 26",because that's my draw lenght.God Bless
