My heart goes out to everybody in Texas, we have family there also. But I know six days is a long way out but Irma seems to have us in her sites, now. It seems like every computer model has it coming up the middle of Florida except one. And it's looking like it will be a Cat 4 or 5 by the time it makes shore. All of my Florida buddies should start getting ready just in case.
-
Yeah, she has the possibility of being a bad one. Our weather guys show her potential paths from anywhere along the west coast of Fla, up the peninsula, or along the east coast to Savannah/Hilton Head or possibly the southern NC coast. No matter what it could be bad. (W
-
Anywhere but texas again
-
Looks like it's time to visit folks far inland! Stay safe and get out of "Dodge" while the getting is good! The roads will be packed in a couple of days, and maybe clogged to impossible!
-
Be safe Eddie.... I got 5 bedrooms if y'all need to hit higher ground for awhile 😄... Brian
-
Yall be safe, looks like this it's going to be a bad year for Hurricane's. :(
Pappy
-
Thanks, Brian but we will be okay. I live in the middle of the state on high ground. We just have to worry about tornadoes and the sustained winds. If it comes in at a cat 6 like they are talking now then everybody will be in deep you know what.
-
We are on the coast and not so high ground (A) Getting stuff ready .I haven't dried out from the 20" we got last week

I didn't know there was such a thing in Florida.
Be careful down there guys.
-
All the best to you Florida guys!
I have seen the pictures of Texas from Harvey.
-
Thanks, Simon. ne Harvey was a category 3 when it hit Houston. Irma is expected to be a cat 5 and now they are saying maybe a 6 if it stays over water the whole way. It is punching sustained winds of a 175MPH. (W
-
185 sustained winds now. The Virgin Islands are fixing to get slammed.
-
Good luck down there guys, looks pretty bad from here . (W

Well, it's pandemonium down in SW FL. People have begun to behave like animals. Angie had to lay out some nutty lady at the gas station yesterday that attacked her over gas.
School is in today but many students and families have begun the evacuation. Classes cancelled tomorrow and friday, currently.
As for us, we plan to stay put. If the dragon decides to fly over our house I'm fixing to hunker down in the shipping container out back which is properly anchored into the ground. We are all stocked up.
My biggest concern is my mom with late stage Parkinson's...
-
It looks like it might go East (W .I'm covering the windows later. I'll have the boat gassed up and the camper stocked and generator is gassed and ready.Hopefully the shelters taking animals will have room for the little lady and her dog. Me and the chickens will hunker down. A least I'll have something to eat. You can't buy plywood or water now. I got gas at 4:30 am and the pumps were full. (-P (-P (-P

Roger, the latest update is it's going farther west and then right up the spine of Florida. I guess my son and his girlfriend picked a bad time to buy a Condo in Naples.
-
Stay safe as you can. My brother lives on the SW coast, but I haven't heard from him as to what he is going to do. Hopefully, he decided to visit kinfolk far inland, like Missouri! Maybe this thing will change it's path and head out to sea, as one model shows. Good luck.

One of the problems is it is 400 miles across, that is bigger than the state is long.
-
Steve,Rodger, and Eddie watch your top knot and hope everyone is all right, can't even imagine something like what's coming. 400 miles wide sounds like it can't miss. (A) I'll take our annual snow fall and be happy rather than all that wind and rain. Be Safe my friends. Bob
-
They talk so casually about it on the news as if it's no big deal. My prayers are with you.
-
My prayers also, be careful and good luck all.

Just east of S'nah on Tybee and we're spending tomorrow boarding/sandbagging everything with expecting evacuation order by dinner Friday night. Will take stones/antlers with me to fill the time. Peace, Paul
-
Right now it looks like SC is going to get a piece after it gets us. But, that far away , realistically, they don't know where it's going till it gets closer. We will know by Saturday morning for sure.

I helped clean up from Andrew, Ivan and Katrina. This storm is nothing to mess with.
Have a good plan and keep us posted. Be prayin for ya all.

OK Fla folks, get out while you can. This isn't going to be good. Irma could be the worst hurricane to ever hit the US. You'll be more help after but you can't stop the destruction.

Too late now. Every northbound highway is a parking lot. and there is a shortage gasoline. Just hang on.
-
Stay safe..
Thanks Leroy
-
Please let us know (when you can) that you and your families made it through this ok.
-
I will, Brian. I know we will lose power, for how long I don't know. But now with the new projected path it will get Parnell and Roger the worse and then where I live to the north is dead center in the path. It is going to get ugly unless it does something weird.
-
Hey Eddie, have fun. Why do I get the feeling you are going to enjoy this? The humanity aside, the experience always was awesome to me.
-
Hang on tight Eddie.
Chime in when you get a chance.
David

Best wishes and prayers to all of you! I got room here iffn y'all wanna travel that far!
-
Here we go. Getting nasty out there now. We are bunkered into the container and ready to go. Our biggest concern now is surge this evening/tonight. Check in when possible.

Our prayers are with you guys and gals. Let us know what you need when you can pop your head out'
I would like to think the surge would have been worse if she came in on the east coast. I hope it is not so bad.
I know water-tarps and generators are some things. There will be plenty of others.
Perhaps we all here could kick in to a kitty?
Zuma
-
Good luck Parnell. Maybe some pontoons would have been a good addition to the container.
-
Prayers for all effected.
-
Steve has already dealt with the wall and Roger is bunkered down in a wastewater facility he used to run. They have been on generator power for hours. The really bad stuff won't hit me till about 2 AM. The power shut off once but came back on so we still have it for awhile. The weather forecast is for the Eye to pass over Tampa or between tampa and Lakeland. When that happens we are going to get hit by the Hurricane Wall winds in Lakeland. I'm sure I will lose power and maybe my roof and other stuff when that happens. Guess I'll see how lucky we are, then. :OK
-
Well any word ??? how are yall holding up ??? been on my mine for sure, hope all is OK, Check in when you get a chance, we all here are worried about all out southern friends. :)

I heard about 5 million are without power in Florida right now so we probably won't hear for a while. I think it hit Jacksonville pretty hard. It started here about an hour or two ago, but they've downgraded to a tropical storm.
-
I just got a text from Eddie. They are OK. Power is out and limbs and trees down but he and Kathie are OK? :OK (-S
-
That's the main thing.
-
Eddie told me that the Parnells and Bonepile are OK too. :OK

Well after working since 3 this mornin and no sleep I'm whooped. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, yall are the best. Once again the hot water in Charlotte harbor pulled a major storm inland it's amazing. Tomorrow i'm taking my chainsaw to work and get a years worth of firewood. Some big trees went down and there are lots of folks needing help. Staying in the camper with generator power. cold beer and some sleep are in high demand tonite.
Roger
-
Glad you're OK Roger. :OK
-
Good to hear you guys are okay. The pictures on the news makes you wonder how more weren't injured or killed. Get some sleep Roger and enjoy a cold one. Good luck with the clean up.
David
-
Rodger, glad to here ya poped out on the other side :o, careful with the wood cutting, I imagine everythink is under tension. Bob
-
At work today and glad we have power here. We didn't have any problems except no power, trees and limbs down. Around 11:oo Sunday night in the height of the storm I was outside and amazed to hear and see the flash of at least a dozen transformers blowing up. We have a lot of Power Lines down and wouldn't you know it, my generator or chainsaw won't start. And to make it even better it will going into the 90's again.
-
Good news brothers. Thanks for taking the time to inform us.
Yell if you need anything. I'll see about shipping a saw.
Zuma
-
I just checked--- The Lakeland UPS store says they should be up and running by tomorrow.
Venice has two stores totally operational today.
Zuma
-
Glad to hear you are all safe!
-
Makes me wonder if all the positive thoughts/energy had any effect on the outcome. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. So glad all are okay. :)
-
Glad to here yall are all ok. From the news pictures it looks like a long clean up for most, really sad to see. Eddie I think I would have checked my generator and saw before it got there. :o
Pappy
-
Good to hear you all are ok!
The pics I saw on TV were cruel
-
I'm good on the saw end. I used a good, sharp ax. )W( The generator is no biggie, I just took one home from work.
-
;)
-
Hi guys. Still without power but my generator is a champ and my buddy loaded up a. The much of 55 gallon drums with fuel and delivered it around. My in laws are on the hospital grid so we are lucky to have a shower and air conditioning for sleep.
Only minor damage to the house. The president flew right over our house in Marine 1 yesterday. Pretty cool to see. Disappointed I won't be able to make Cody Scott's wedding tomorrow but it's not in my control. Hey...Life is good. (W ;D
-
Glad all is well, been thinking about yall. :)
