Dates this year will be July 17 thru 19. See you all soon. Keith
-
Be there as usual keith.
-
I can't wait. I'll bet it's gonna be big this year with the plug from the Missouri conservationist. I'll be there as early as I can. Hopefully Wednesday night or sooner.
-
I will be there again and bringin the new wife, lol
-
Hello all, I am new to the forum in fact this is my first post. I have never been to MoJam, but plan on being there this year. A friend of mine, Grey Ghost, turned of on to this. I had never even heard of it before 6 months ago. I have a couple friends and my wife coming. Is there someplace I could get some more info on the event?
-
This will be my first year going, and I can't wait. Welcome lebhuntfish. I would like to see more info posted here as well if anyone has any.
-
Plannin on it this year! Hated missin last year, but the elk trip ate up my available free time.
MOJAM is one of the best primitive skills gatherings in this part of the country. Much like the Classic in TN, this is a great place to learn bow building, flint knapping, arrow making, string making, fire starting and much more! There is limited space for primitive camping and campgrounds in the area. Trading is common and encouraged, as well as cash purchases. Concessions are available as well as porta john toilets.
The folks are top notch, family friendly atmosphere, kids always running back and forth, and the volunteer staff are always super helpful. I guarantee, if you take the time to attend you will walk away with a new found faith in humanity and probably a few more skills for your possibles bag.
At least, that's my perspective after making it a priority for 4 of the last 5 years.
-
Falcon and Lebhuntfish, go to Marshall Bowhunters . org for information about how to get Indian hills where Mojam is held and a page with some information. Stringman covered everything that is on the page. Great people, good fun...look forward to it every year. It may be a little warm and humid, but it is always fun!
-
Thanks patches
-
Thank you all very much! And thank you falcon too. I hope to be able to meet you all there! I'm hoping to have my first self bow done to bring it with me.
-
The vacation time has been scheduled and just waitin' on July now... :D
-
Looking forward to it! Jealous of the folks pulling out to head to the TN Classic this week, ...but our turn is coming!!!
OneBow
-
Well, the guys in Tenn. can have their fun too I guess...
maybe next year I'll be able to head that way. Till then, looking forward to Mojam. :D
-
Some of us are doin both ;)... but im fortunate to only live 1hr from Mojam so i dont have to burn up vacation time for it :)... Brian
-
Just got back from the classic and MOJAM is already on my mind. Hope to see some new faces and even some old ones too.
-
Due to a happy congruence of events, ...I was able to make a quick trip to the TN Classic this year as well! I even got to see Dave his soggy-shoed son, and his beautiful towheaded little daughter while I was there!!! (It's a good thing she has two older brothers and a dad that makes weapons for fun!)
Now I'm all rev'd up to go to MOJAM this year! Heat be danged!!!
OneBow
-
Me too, I can't wait I have never been. But will be there with bells on. And note pad in hand. I'm working some bows now as well as some stuff to trade. Man this stuff is fun!
-
look forward to seeing everyone. Keith
-
Can't wait to get there keith. My kids are looking forward to the pool as well. I'm hoping to take a full week off work this year and then maybe I will get to visit with everyone this year. working on a new tiller in set up to bring along too.
-
Keith don't forget to bring my chair... :) I'm retiring July 1 and will need it! LOL My wife says she is coming for the first time... hoping we can get the camp together another year. Will get there early as well to do some visiting with friends before the masses appear...
Bob
-
Been getting things ready for awhile now. I asked for the whole week off so hopefully I'll be there Monday when the gate opens to give you guys a hand getting things ready. Also been getting some goodies together for the auction and clout shoot.
-
just letting my 'pencil holder' grow and getting the liquid refreshments ready...can't wait!
Bob
-
Hey Bob, heard from Sal or John? After 35 degrees last week, we're getting a bit warmer 85 ish today. Only a couple of months now...
-
got a couple of emails from Sal last week...haven't heard from John, but I did get in touch with Rob and told him he needs to be there. It will be the first time for my wife... :)
-
Looking forward to meeting the miss bob. Mine will be there again this year. My pencil holder is in full swing too. I hope say makes it with John this year. I want to show him my quiver I made from the yucca piece he gave me. It was my favorite until my oldest claimed it for himself.
-
Hey Dvshunter, you wouldn't have a pic of that quiver that you could pm me. Maybe some of the process would be cool. I have a bunch of yucca. Was going to make some bow strings out of it for mojam. But my hands can't do that much cordage at one time.
I plan on bringing some Osage to trade with. Looking for lots of things, I'm new to this stuff and need several things. Pm me if you have something. Hope to see you all there.
-
While I have gone back to growing out the beard, (I HATE to shave), I doubt it will catch up to pencil gripping density in time for MOJAM. I reckon I'll just have to fashion somthing workable out of a piece of duct tape!
OneBow
-
Good news today. My vacation was approved and I will have a good shot at being one of the first ones there this year. I'm off July 14th through the rest of the week. MOJAM here we come.
-
Don't hog it all man! I'll be there on Wednesday!
-
I'll try not to but no promises.
I actually got into my shop for an hour tonight. Time is flying as I'm trying to get things ready for mojam. The last two weeks always seem to disappear. This year should be pretty big. The back cover of the Missouri conservationist had a young man whittling on a shave horse on it. Word is getting back out there it seems.
-
I seen that. Last year the conservationists had a big write up about how to make a long bow. I think it was October's issue. That's what kinda got me started.
-
Well good. I figured it would spark a lot of interest. There used to be a troop of scouts that came every year but they have been missing the last two years. Also just a reminder of the pot luck dinner on Saturday. Most people bring ribeyes but lobster will do...
-
Lol, how about prime rib! I may be new to bows but not pot luck dinners!
-
How about Duck Englese with a Port wine reduction sauce and roasted new potatoes? Perhaps a bit of raspberry tart with a mint creme glaze for desert?
OneBow
-
mmmmmm :D

OneBow
I'll just make my fried bacon, peppers, onions and corn side dish for the pot luck ... ;)
Might have some Anaheim peppers from the garden by then and will stuff them with cheese, wrap with bacon and cook them up in camp. ;D
-
Just over a month! Time to start practicing at hitting a target at 125 yards... LOL... Love the Clout Shoot!
I'll try to get some kids arrows made for whoever needs them...
Can't wait!
-
I remember the clout shoot... I haven't made it down to one in three years and I bet I won't this year either. Lol
I am ready to be there now. I have the whole week off finally and it's taking forever for it to get here.
-
I thought that I was going to have to miss at least half of Mojam because of work, but the meeting I as going to have to go to has been cancelled. So I will be there early Thursday! I can't wait. Got a lot of projects I want to get finished before then.
-
Good deal patches, I have several projects to get done too and this is my busy time of the year. But I will breast bring some Osage with me and a stave I'm working on.
-
I'm not sure what I'm going to bring to work on. Maybe just the skins I have to get ready. I am bringing two benches with me again this year and my calls and clamps and tools.
-
I bought up a bunch of string making stuff at a discount at the Classic, so I'll be bringing that stuff to make up both some tillering strings and finals for new bowyers.
OneBow
P. S. - - - How do we PRE-Order shirts this year? Am I too late to ask? ...I may have several guys coming with me that'll want to get one.
-
We're coming again this year, have a daughter who's looking forward to it. If Keith is taking ordersd, we want two XL shirts and a medium.
I ran into some three year old hedge splits a week ago, a friend who I taught to make bows had them and was loking for a few extra bucks so I helped him out. Been drawknifing several days now and am maybe half done processing things up. That and reading Stevenson's The Old Bowhunter has me in the mood for some bowmaking.

Me 2 how would I get shirts? I for sure need a couple of 2xl's. And maybe a couple of other sizes.
-
I would bei nterested in a shirt too.
I am not sure what I will bring to work on either. I would like to bend a couple peices of osage on the reflex/deflex jig.
Officially starts a month from tomorrow! It will be here before we know it.
-
There is a t shirt order thread at the Tradgang site and I just sent little bear a pm.

Thanx Paul - I nearly never visit Tradgang any more. There was too much crosstalk for my little pea-brain to keep up...

same here...guess I'll have to this once to get an order in...
thanks.
Bob

I sent little bear an e-mail and a pm so she may get over here for orders once she gets the word...

-
hi everyone, I am looking forward to seeing yall at MOJAM again this year. Sorry I didn't put anything about tshirts on here, but was told not to be solicating. didn't want to get kicked out. but feel free to message me if you would like to order one.
-
Been working in the shop all I can trying to finish a few before mojam. Also I just got word that my 9 sage guy has been cutting again so I will probably grab a log or two to split and work for trade while I'm there too. Good news for those that love the tinging of a wedge at 6 am. Lol
-
That's ok with me, I almost got in trouble at my house for "tinging a wedge" at 10 pm on a week night! By the way what time does everything get going there. I have a stave that I would like to try and work on I think. Need some pros advice with it! Patrick
-
The official start is on Thursday and, depending on the heat, most folks start whittling away in the morning. Usually there are some informative seminars during the day. Many keep on doing stuff under the pavilion roof till the wee hours of the night as well.
-
Awesome, thanks Paul! That will be good for me because I like to get up early and also I am a pretty good night owel. I'm excited, but I'm afraid there will be so much brain stimulation that I won't be able to sleep for those 3 day's!
-
Patrick, those three days will go by quick. It is for sure best to wait to sleep after its over :)
-
Never to early or to late to work on bows at mojam.
-
Sounds like I'm going to have a blast! Can't wait to meet everyone!
-
lebhunt and patches, i will get you all down for shirts
-
I should be there Thursday morning or late Wednesday night. Hope to put some more faces to names this year.
-
Thanks littlebear!
JonW, I will try to be there early Thursday morning as well.
-
Just 3 more weeks!

Tick - Tock - impatiently waiting to turn the calendar...
-
What is the name of the street that goes down to the park?
-
John you can take yearby to osage or go to Eastwood and take a right.
-
Well - changes at work have me not getting there till later on Wednesday afternoon or evening now. I had really been hoping to roll in early Tuesday morning. Alas - 'tis not to be...

Well I rented a hotel for mojam this year. I have never been there and my wife mentioned that she wanted to go with me. She don't do camping in the summer when it's hot. Well she just told me that she wouldn't be able to go because of work. I'm going to go ahead and stay in the hotel. But I feel like I might be missing out on some fun because I love camping and it's easier to stager to a tent than to a hotel room. Where is the coffee tree located, I'll pull in early Thursday morning and I will need some when I get there! Patrick
-
I am planning on setting up next to Jerry and Dave. Everyone should come look me up. I will be wearing a red OU sooners shirt and a white cowboy hat.
-
That's too bad eric. I would just quit your job if I was you. See you Thurs I guess.
I will be setting up down by the range again this year. It's easier to keep an eye on the kids. From there since they spend most of the time at the range or the pool. I should be easy to spot for those that don't know me. I'll have the pencil in my beard.
Heading out to the shop now to try and finish a couple before I leave.
I almost forgot. I found some suspicious liquid in some jars that I'm going to need help identifying as well as some apple pie.
-
Oh man! I love apple pie!
-
I like suspicious liquid in jars!! :D
-
Careful there!.... Its prolly paint thinner! Lol... Brian

No advantage, excessive or otherwise, taken Eric... Much like my "advice", freely offered. ;)
Seeya soon.

Well I woke up this morning about 630 and felt pretty good. So I decided to head to the garage and work on some stuff for mojam. I found myself working on a Flemish jig that I'm going to put on the auction table. I had gathered all my brass and stuff and started drilling holes. Then I kinda messed up a little and tore some wood with the drill bit. (Now to figure out how to fix that.) Then I changed my mind a few times and out came the Osage slivers because my holes was too big. Anyways the point of the story is I actually found some time to work on some stuff. Patrick
-
Well I checked the jars last night and it is not paint thinner so we are good there. Apple pie is on reserve. I think three gallons will do this year. Especially if sale won't be there. Lol. I'm going to buy a new farriers rasp for the auction table. These things are the bees knees for bow building. Very sharp. Also planning on bringing a fee staves and maybe an osage log or two. Plus the super sized snake skins to mess with as well. It will be here before you know it guys.
-
Today i finished making a paper pattern for a reflex/reflex caul(jig) based on the one that has been at Mojam the last few years. I hope to get the wood cut and put together soon, but time is running out. Its only a little over two weeks til Mojam! I will bring the patterns with me in case anyone wants to copy them. I also think I am gong to bring a piece of persimmon, just to see what I can make out of it. Got some deer leg sinew to put on the auction table. Need to start practicing for the clout shoot too.
-
DVS- is there a need for a caul that's just reflexed? I got the pattern from Gary Davis years ago. I can sure bring it.
I will also bring my welded stave horse bench if needed. The grape juice is making as time passes...it might be a month old by MoJam! I'll bring a few kids arrows and whatever else I have lying around.
-
I believe I'm going to splice a set of billets this year, haven't done that in awhile. I'm considering gluing them up with a little deflex in the handle, then reflexing the limbs enough to make it an R/D profile.
Might put some sinew on a bow too if I can make myself process some tendons before the event. I have the blank cut and shaped, just need to floor tiller and it'd be ready for the backing.
I've been training for MOJAM for a few weeks now. My friend brought me a bunch of osage splits he cut in 2011, his shed got nearly blown down and he took the opportunity to lighten his stash (and my wallet) a bit. I've been processing the stuff up at every opportunity. He stored it with bark on, I'm not entirely sure its good and dry even after three years. I have something like 14 staves at this point, some shorter than others of course. Most of them are chased to a ring and sealed for storage. Still a few more good splits to work on.
-
Lennie...sounds like you have been busy! I might be interested in a stave that will make a 60" sinew backed bow. It will be great to see you again!
Bob
-
Hey guys I'm bringing a few Osage states too! I haven't had time to remove any bark on them yet but might try to turn a few of them out.
tom sawyer, I would be interested to see how you splice some billets together. I have never done that.
-
Sooooo . . . any advice re camping @ mojam? My lil tent and I occupy just a small bit of real estate, but it seems that attendance will be high and, therefore, camping space may be at premium.
What's the gallery say?
Also, I've been known to lend a hand. While am a newbie and on the "retired" side of the working habit, the back and legs are still strong. Volunteers needed and, if so, when?
Michael
-
As far as camping, there is space off to the side of the drive that everyone pitches thier tents in. I doubt you will have trouble finding space for a small tent. there is additional camping areas up top of the hill by the main gate, but you are kinda far away from all the activity up there. Camping is first come first serve. Showers are up in the city park at the end of the driveway. There is a a faucet toward the bottom of the hill, and ice is supplied for everyone. There is a small number of electrical plug ins if you happen to bring a fan (not sure on the number of plug ins though). It will be warm. I think 2003 was the only year I remember not sweating my but off. Hope that helps.
-
Worst case scenario on camping, you pitch your tent at the top of the hill. There are always several people camping up there and plenty of room. Its just that having to walk up and down the hill is a pain.
-
Long range Weather Forecasts are something of a crap shoot in my experience, ...but just for grins and giggles - here's Marshall's weather predictions for the week of MOJAM. Not cool by any means, but not 114 degrees either!!! ...and NO Thunderboomerz! This could just be the bestest MOJAM weather yet! :D :D :o
OneBow
-
Thanks for the info fellas.
Re weather . . . if the soothsayers are correct then will definitely not need silk sleepbag liner. Ooops, maybe WILL need the liner & not the bag!
Stay safe,
Michael
-
'Nother question . . . is MoJam focused on primitive bows only, or are recurves welcome also? Reason for asking is that my more than several efforts to produce a "manly" stick have come up zilch so far.
Grandkids, however, are appreciating the youth bows that have survived the garage workshop.
Stay safe,
Michael
-
Knoll, bring whatever you want. We have discovered that the shame and ridicule that a non-primitive bow shooter endures greatly increases the chances of producing a wonderful stick bow in record time. Keith
-
:D :) :D
-
Knoll - most of us have made our bows however, there will be likely be a number of bows others have built and are for sale or trade. Some are target weight bows and others are hunting weight. You may be surprised at what you can find.
-
Should be there around 10 on Th. Pick us a good spot, Dan.
-
Dan, Larry is right...you need to save us a place for 3 vehicles, which will be enough for the tents and such. If there is an electrical plug withing a couple of hundred feet...that would be nice too...I'll bring cords and a fan or 2...
Bob
-
Larry, Bob, I plan to leave after the caffeine takes hold. However, we know how plans can awry. :) It will be good see you all.
re: electric outlet, I'll toss in an electric extension cord.
Guess we won't be having 54 degrees like we did this morning.
-
Bob I think there are a few reflexes cauls tbere. I am bringing my reflex de flex again for all to use. I am probably gonna make an osage run one day two and go get a log to mess with. I will be there in 11 days so I'll have some time early to piddle. I am also bringing two benches because 8 think this is going to be a big year.
-
I would be there early too but my wife is coming...I think 4 days will be enough for her... LOL. I will bring a bench and not the caul then. See you there!
-
Sounds good bob. I'm leaving my wife at home until late probably Thursday morning. It will just be me and the boys. I'm trying my best to get some bows finished so I have something new to shoot all week. Also wish I had time to make some arrows but it looks like I'm running out of time. Side work is starting Monday evening so 16 hour days until mojam are in my future. Hurry up week.
-
Arrows are my problem as well. I'm pretty new to this stuff and I now have a bow that I made that I need to do a little more weight removal in the tips and handle areas on. I only have one arrow that a friend gave me. I have some bamboo garden stakes that I have straightened but none that are finished.
I would love to do some shooting but...
-
I have a couple of dozen arrows I am wanting to sell and there will be others with arrows also. With that said one arrow is plenty if you always hit the target. lol. Forecast is for 100 degree plus heat index tomorrow. MoJam must be close. Keith
-
Mobow, thanks, I did have two arrows at one point. I have some Osage I'm planning on trading if your interested for the arrows?!
-
arrows? I may have a few hundred miss matched arrows around here to bring... :) Keith, I just looked and it says 84 for MoJam weather...if that actually happens it will be awesome!
Dave you can borrow all of the arrows you need... :)
Bob
-
Awesome bob. I picked up another box of birds today too. I'll bring my phone so we can get mo re proof of your shooting prowess
-
Bob, 84 would be sweet. Keith
-
I'd even be happy with 85...
-
Anything less than 110 is good enough for MOJAM!
OneBow
-
85 would be awesome!!!
-

As long as that's not the humidity...

-
Hey guy's I woke up this morning and looked a my weather app on my phone. It said 77 degrees with a 30% chance of rain in Marshall on the 17th. It also showed the 16th at 77 as well. Patrick
-
this could be the best weather ever for mojam! only 10 more days! I have been going through my arrows today and will be bringing at least 200 mismatched extras...
-
That's cool Bob, I may need to come see you for some arrows.
-
Unfortunately you were still dreaming!
Actually we had a cool MOJAM one year, thats one in the last ten. So its possible but not probable. And it may come with rain.
-

Always the voice of reason Lennie.. :)
See ya in a couple weeks.
-
I think we had cool temps in 2003. It was around 75 degrees for at least part of Mojam that year.
-
Patches: I thought the 'cool' MoJAM was a 'few years back', you're correct; funny how 10 years morphs into 'a few years back' as one gets older. :)
Bob - was that year we had the 'tigris and euphrates' through camp? I'm pretty sure Dustin was there that year. The years kinda run together.
-
I think that was my first mojam. I was splitting osage at 7 am thinking it was later. Luckily no one cared about the tinging of wedges that early.
-
I was thinkin it was 06 or 07... I remember a sleepin bag wernt quite enuff to stay warm and most of us were up very early movin to get warm, lol. Mike Mguire came that year with abunch of his staves. We had warned him at the Classic how hot it would be....he thought Auggie and I were crazy..come on back Mike...lol.... Brian
-
I do remember waking up to 6" of water in my tent... :) Looks like the forecast is easing up...83-85 now with 63-65 at night...it would be awesome. One week from now I'll be on the road north!
-
New boy here. I heard about this event at a Rendevous back in the Spring and put it on my calendar. I was told it was a "Must Go" event. I just retired about 2 weeks ago and this is going to be some "me time." Just got started in this hobby last fall through the MO. Dept. of Conservation and a free workshop they did. Loved it. Look forward to meeting some new friends. Probably just bring a tent and toss it up somewhere; sounds like there should be space somewhere without having to make reservation. See you there.
-
Hey Sam! I just posted in your other thread. You mentioned MoDOC - Were you at the event in Cape Girardeau? I was there too. It was a good time to be sure... Though we nearly got drowned by all the rain the last day or so...
Where are you coming from to go to Marshall / MOJAM?
OneBow
-
OneBow I attended the workshop at the conservation center at Winona in August last year......hot, hot, hot. Enjoyed it very much though. Larry Lindeman filled in for A.J. but followed his syllabus. I got home and tried to finish my bow but broke it in the tillering process. Bought the TBB series and read and watched everything I could on-line. Built me a shaving horse......got hooked but still haven't finished my first self bow. I will be coming to Marshall from my hometown of Piedmont probably on Wednesday, not sure yet. Where you coming from?
-
06-07 sounds about right for the "Cool" Mojam...? :-\
I remember having a campfire in my redneck hibachi one night and we were sitting around it for the warmth. Well, that and the Mead... ;)
I should be rolling in Wednesday sometime. Good to see we are going to have some fresh faces again this year.
See ya'll soon.
-
Hey Sam - I'm coming from Springfield. AJ's a good instructor. He taught the class in Cape G. Regrettably, I don't think he's gonna be able to make it to this year to MOJAM. I went to a MoDOC training YEARS AND YEARS ago in Shannon County at the Alton Club/Jerry J. Presley Conservation Education Center that was taught by Mr. Jeff Strubberg. Golly gosh but that feels like a lifetime ago now. ...but it's where I caught the bug. Haven't been able to shake it since!
OneBow
-
Hey Sam, welcome to the obsession! Hope to see you there, I to am coming from the Springfield area. I will be there Thursday morning, hopefully for coffee! All of us Missouri boys should get together while we are there. Hope everyone has a safe trip and is ready for some good me time as Sam said!
-
Howdy Sam! I am originally from your neck of the woods. I grew up between Arcadia and Fredericktown. I was in Piedmont quite a bit when Iwas growing up. Now I live in Warrensburg, close to KC. Looking forward to meeting you and Patrick both at MoJAM. I will be there early Thursday morning too.
-
Good deal Patches, cant't wait till thursday! ;D Patrick
-
Yeah.....looking foward to that guys. And yes, us MO Boys need to get together. Hope we can figure out a way to do that. Tell you what, I'll wear a name tag label that has my username (SamIAm) here on the forum. Would that work?
-
Good idea Sam
-
Yeah maybe I'll do the same thing Sam, that's a good idea! 8)
-
I will wear my beard with a pencil in it and spend most of the time under the pavilion. Lol
-
Hey Dave, maybe we should have contest to see who's beard can hold the most pencils this year..? ;D
-
Spent the morning working on a few things to bring. Last week I made 5gal of bread and butter pickles to take to the pot luck.
-
Sounds good, I haven't gotten enough cucumbers to make our bread and butter pickles yet. They are my favorite!
-
Looks like we will most likely just come down early Saturday and stay as long as we can. My wive has been fighting something off that they still aint figured out yet. Thank the good Lord we know its not cancer again! ;) She gets fatigued easily tho and im thinkin she dont need to be camping inda heat... Brian
-
That's a bummer brian. Hope she gets to feeling better soon.
I'm spending today getting things ready and we will be heading out tomorrow morning. Should be there around noon depending on if and when the storm goes through they are calling for. Smooth sailing after that though.
-
Man Brian, I hope she gets to feeling better soon! Hope to see you Saturday! Patrick
-
Brian,
My thoughts are with your family. Keith
-
Thanks guys!...we will be there with bells on Saturday ;)... Brian
-
Finishing packing the truck now. After all is said and done I'm thinking we will be there around d 3.
-
Hoping to be there on Wednesday so see ya'll soon. :D
-
The cool weather has Rob and Pam coming from South Dakota now! This could be the best one in years!

I wish I was leaving today! Only a 2.5 hour drive for me but I feel like I should be there now. See you all Thursday morning!
P.S. I need some help with an Osage bow that's almost done!
-
ARRRRRRrrrrrggggggghhhhhh..... I so wish this work week was over already!!!!!!! I NEED TO BE AT MOJAM!
Some days work just sucks extra bad! ...especially when there's someplace else I'd so much rather be!

I'm seeing highs in the mid-70's all week and no rain?! I'll take it! I don't ever recall packing a sweater for MOJAM.
I'm getting stuff together, we'll be treking over to arrive some time after noon Wednesday.
-
I hear ya Onebow, I have to work tomorrow and Wednesday. Both 10 hour days, and the thought of getting up in the morning already sucks! I hope to see you there Thursday morning!
TomSawyer, I would almost rather be cold than admit I wore a sweater in the middle of a Missouri July! Lol I will pack a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt! lol. See you there. Patrick
-
Did some last minute prep work last night. I'll be packing up the truck when I get off work tonight.
REALLLYY hard to keep my mind on my work today. Hopefully my Boss isn't watching me right now...

I'm looking forward to the event, but not the packing. Maybe this is finally the year I pack light? Not likely.
-
Bicycle touring xcountry is good way to learn to pack light. :)
-
I tried to pack light one year by riding my bike (motorcycle)...wasn't half bad going to the event, but coming home with a 7' Yew stave strapped across the back was a bit scary... :^) I packed the truck today...just quit packing when I ran out of room. LOL.
-
I got most everything packed up tonight. Hope to be there around noon but might be delayed. (A possible slow leak in a tire and the feed store don't open till 8..) >:(
-
Throw some green slime in her and air it up! ;D On the other hand, if you can find the leak you could put a plug in it. I always keep a pack of plugs and the tools on hand. Good luck and be safe. Patrick
-
Truck is packed and sitting out in the parking lot here at work ready to go. I'm cutting out 2 hours early today so that we MIGHT be able to setup a tent with a bit of daylight. I have to pick up two of my nephews before I leave town that are coming with me. This will be the first MOJAM for each of them. My son will join us Thursday and my brother is coming up Friday night. It's been a major undertaking to coordinate all the comings and goings...

Wait my boss just called and said that I could leave a half hour early. Off to get the truck loaded and to MOJam early A.M.! See you all tomorrow!
-
As usual when I'm trying to get stuff together to go somewhere, I think I have plenty of time to do it. Then I end up rushing around at the last minute. Hope I don't forget anything that I wanted to uake. See you tomorrow! Patrick
-
Made here with daylight to spare! Camp is all setup. Already had some 'Apple Pie'!!!

Well I'm up and fixing to head that way. Had to take care of something first thing this morning. Should be on the road in about 30 min or so. See you guys about 9 or so! Patrick

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed meeting most of you and being a part of MOJAM 2014. Sorry I didn't get to stay for the main event on Saturday, I'm already regretting it but as you could probably tell I was a little under the weather. It was more than it was "cracked up to be." I really learned a lot and met some of the most incredible people. What a gathering of kindred spirits. I left without getting a T-Shirt; if anyone knows where I can order one please let me know. Hope to see you all next year and bring the misses. Would it be too much to ask for the same kind of July weather? ;) Thanks to all, especially Lennie and Paul and their families for adopting the new boy.
-
Sam kinda covered the waterfront of appreciation & praise to/for all the folk who made MOJam special for me. Though it was my 1st time, was welcomed warmly literally from the minute I drove onto the MBH property.
Unless sumpin catastrophic happens this time next year, I'll certainly be returning!
Now, if could think of real good excuse that would elicit weekend pass to head for MI next weekend . . .

We had a great time and the cool weather was also a big plus this year. As always it was good to see old friends and make some new ones .
Sam, it was a pleasure meeting and talking with you Sir. I hope you get to feeling better and we'll see you and everyone else next year.
Thanks again to Keith and everyone else in Marshall for putting on such a great event.
-
Thanks to all who make this gathering possible and such a success. The weather was simply outstanding. Can't recall having such nice weather, in mid-Missouri in mid-July.
It is great to see old friends, make new ones and simply enjoy hanging out with some of the most talented bowyers around these parts.
It's like a tune-up on the old bow making spirit and refreshing the batteries that will have to last till nest year.
Hoping to see all of you once again, same time, next year.
-
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the festivities once again. We all go in different directions, then meet up again at camp and compare notes. Really nice camping with Paul and crew, sharing camp duties like cooking and ice retrieval, having social time and heckling passers by. We've declared ourselves the WalMart greeters of MOJAM. Have your receipts handy when you leave, just sayin'.
Thats exactly right Dan, my interest gets renewed each time I go. This year was no exception.
Scored a cool old archery book called The Archers Craft at the auction, turns out its a 1951 publication and is an interesting read so far. The older I get the more I appreciate old stuff.

Hey SAM - I - AM and others that may have missed out on T-Shirts. The Marshall Bow Hunters Facebook Page just posted that there are a few available. You don't have to facebook to see the page, it's public. There is a link to the facebook page from the Marshall Bow Hunters website. Hope this helps.
-
I just wanted to thank Paul and everyone else who helped make me feel so welcome this year at my first MOJam. It was a great time and I'm already thinking about what I'm going to bring next year. :) Sorry I didn't get a chance to run through the 3D course with you Sam, I was trying to make it back in time.
-
No problem Chas, we'll do it next year. And thanks Gifford for the heads up on the T's.
-
It was a pleasure meeting you Chas. Glad you had a good time. We'll "reserve" the spot for you and Sam next year. :D
-
Did anyone else notice that they spelled Missouri wrong on the t-shirts? It has 3 S's
-
Yep, that was the first thing I noticed! "Misssouri"
-
Anybody started working on their "FrankenBow" for next year's MOJAM yet?
OneBow
-
I have a thought but I want to make a take down! I'm thinking a rawhide backed hickory with an Osage self bow.
