Title: My first of the season
Post by: Simple Hunter on October 26, 2010, 11:48:53 pm
Shot this one at 25 yards walking through both lungs with my iron wood bow.Its not big would be an under statement but the hunt and shot made the experience.

Very nice job.  I used to hunt on a farmer's land in IL and he required me to shoot him one just like that every season.  Best eating there is.  Congrats.

Nice. Good eatin', as said above. When you say your bow is ironwood, which ironwood do you mean? Hop Hornybeam?

Think of it as showing off!  I mean, who can't hit a 200# mule deer at 15 yds, much harder to hit your deer, right?  Besides, those hind legs would smoke up really nicely and each make a fine dinner for 4.  The trophy is the experience in being in primitive archery range of an animal that makes it's living avoiding predators.  Never feel slighted when it is a clean and honorable kill.  Pretty deer, tasty deer.
