It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a harvest on here. The last few years I’ve been pretty successful when it comes to elk. But, the blacktail deer......man oh man. Such a different game.
My last deer harvest was 2016 but that was a SE Oregon Muley. My last blacktail was way back in 2011. This year I played the game my way and it turned in my favor and I was privileged enough to harvest a 9.5-10 year old blacky, for a blacky he’s on the large side of the scale which surprised me when caught up to him.
My niece, Hayzen and I shared the blind again and we managed to send some stone flyin:)
55# yew bow from my bud James Rempp. Surewood tapered shafts with Columbia river agate points. Tags been punched on ‘Crabfork’ a 2x3 buck we’ve seen a few times and has the thickest antler base I’ve seen on a deer. All and all he’s a healthy guy and I’m thankful for his sacrifice. He hung for a week and he taste so damn good! and that’s it till elk season.
Thanks for lookin

That's great Bryce. Love the story and the pictures to. Your niece is adorable and obviously not afraid to dig in and help with the processing either. I'm sure it's a joy to share your blind with her. Bet she feels the same way about sharing it with you. Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.

Excellent Bryce. Well done. I admire your drive and attitude and for passing it on to that cute little one. :OK

Medium rare, please! Nice hunt, excellent animal and a really cute hunting partner! She will be looking forward to her first hunt, for sure! The hide should be big enough to make her a neat outfit!

That's beautiful, Bryce! ;D I loved seeing your little assistant, too. Congratulations.

Nice!
I'm a little jealous of you all that get to hunt with stone tips.

That is awesome man!

Congrats on a great animal my friend. Very nice critter.

Thanks guys, yes she had a blast it was hard keeping a knife out of her hands. She kept bugging me about when she finally get to drop an animal herself.
Over the last few years she has really learned where her food come from whether it be hunting or bleeding and butchering chickens.
It’s something that not a lot of kids get to l arm about let alone experience. It makes me kind of disappointed that, natural food and they way it’s processed isn’t being taught Bc kids would rather stick their face in a F#*$ing screen.

Congrats, very nice deer. Looks like that gal has it all worked out. Got to love that. :)

Awesome job on a great deer. also a great job teaching the youth about hunting.

+2, deiselcheese! We'll have to. Make do with trade points if we want to go primitive. Or use the stone for smaller game! Maybe some day, we can induce a change.
