A real beard or a girly beard, Pearlie? ;D
I'll be there come hell or high water. I've already braved the high water deal a few years ago and I know Twin Oaks is more like heaven than hell.
-
Can't wait!!! I think I might try to work on a bow this classic since I never get out of the knapping pit when I'm there. Really looking forward to greatest feast on Earth Saturday evening as well. What is there not to like about the Classic, even the torrential rains don't dampen the spirits and fun:)

I will be there early like last year if all goes well, and Pappy didn't get tired of seeing me for all that time....lol
-
Enjoyed it Charlie. ;) ;D
Pappy
-
Thats my plan Charlie. Im thinking about harrassing Pappy from Wednesday eve until Saturday morning, then making the long trip back home. If I wait until it gets too busy on Saturday I wont find many of the folks I want to meet. Like you!
-
I hope to be there this year never been. I want to build a selfbow . I have never done that..I have attempted twice and both failed.Hopefully get someone to help me.Would like a osage bow. See you there. :)

Mat look forward to seeing Miss Heather and you, you're the best kinda people. Ron
-
I'm with white feather. I think I'm gonna get to go this year. My event coordinator (aka the wife) says the schedule is clear that weekend. I'm gonna bring a bow or two of my own and hopefully build another one while I'm there if I can. Maybe I can find some 'sage there. As of yet I'm sageless but I hear it makes an okay bow >:D.
-
Oscar ...the osage will overfloweth there...you will have no problems getting some hedge. ;)
-
...and I'm in as well. I'll call ya soon, steve, to work out details.
-
so just a quick question for you guys. how would i get a stave? do i buy it or can i trade for it or what
-
Hi Kid Bow you can go either way buy or trade I've seen many staves given away I'll have some well seasoned hickory, and I like to trade generously. Ron
-
Nice to know Ron thanks for the heads up also lol
-
Kid, if you get in the SELFBOW CHALLANGE you buy a stave from Twin Oaks and with the help of lots of good bowyers you build a bow over the weekend. On Sunday everyone in the Challenge shoot against each other for trophies. This is about the best opportunity for a new or relatively new bowyer to get help from some of the best. You will learn more that weekend than your brain can absorbe! ;)
-
I'm sure just remember pat I can absorb a lot in one weekend might be there Friday
-
Plenty of wood there to trade for or buy,if you look real sad someone might even give you one, ;) ;D ;D never know with this bunch. :)
Pappy
-
Crackers hickory is good stuff.
-
:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(. Pappy, this is my best sad look I can get! Think it will work????...LOL
-

Pappy
I think I'll paint on a sad clown face and walk around all weekend to see what I come up with. :) I mean :( :(
-
I'm scheduled to have the whole week off, I'm lucky this year with a few days built into the schedule already. Not sure when I'm planning on driving up yet or if Angie is going to drive with me or fly mid-week, but she is coming also, she's made that quite clear!
Put me to work, Pappy!
-
:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(. Pappy, this is my best sad look I can get! Think it will work????...LOL
Charlie, you are just too funny. ;D :D  :( :( :( :(
-
We all need a laugh now and then. So I offer up my mug shot, that is the best laugh I know of..lol
-
Pretty good one Charlie, need to figure out what face Dana made,he went away with a lot of wood/stuff one year.I thought he was going to have to rent a truck.Good news Parnell, any time I will be there all week.Glad Angie is coming also
always a pleasure to see that pretty face. :)
Pappy
-
I just got a message from Dana after sending him one. Looks like he is giving up the bow making and getting rid of all his stuff. Sorry to hear that.
-
Looking forward to being there!!! I'm able to get the whole week off work so I plan on rolling in on Monday. See you guys then.
-
That's great new Cody,can't wait. :)
Pappy
-
Getting a lot of feed back already ,especially on the selfbow Challenge. Jon is going to have his hand full keeping up with that. ;) ;D Thanks to a lot of help from our friends it usually goes pretty smooth,Jon is just supposed to keep it some what organized and done a fine job last year. ;) :) Really looking forward to it this year, love getting to see all my old friends and always meet a lot of new ones. :)
Pappy
-
pappy dunno yet if ill make it or mot will know in another month or so may have to work well see brock :o
-
Hope it works out Brock, love to visit with you again. Anyone heard from Kerryb ?
Pappy
-
He was on the thread to get JW Halverson to the classic. I sure hope he makes it this year. He's a hoot. Ron
-
VB,s in, should be there sometime wed nite or thurs morning. I can't wait, I missed last year and I regretted it all year. I haven't knapped since then so I'm hoping to get back in the swing(no pun intended), not that I was any good, but nobody said you have to be good to have fun. Can't wait to see everyone, especially Jon.
-
Glad to hear you and your wife are coming back to the classic. Mark. We missed y'all last year.
-
That is great news for sure.Really looking forward to seeing all my old buds. Just can't get here soon enough. :)
Pappy

The system in place last year seemed to work well. Hopefully it will work again this year. Like last year anyone working on bows in the Bow Building area has to register and get a button from me. Thanks for all the help last few years from PA folks who helped me keep up with it by sending folks to see me when they saw someone working without a button on and registered. It's getting on along towards the time where we are going to start cleaning and getting the shop area up to standard for all our guests. Now that is what does take some man hours!
It's great VB you and your wife are going to be at the Classic this year! Can't wait to see you again. Bonnie sends her love and looks forward to seeing you both soon!
-
Jon... Do we "helpers" need to register as well???
Most on the time I will show up and just start helping someone with there first bow.
Usually someone that is chasing there first Osage ring and laying out there bow.
Once the bow is about 3/4 tillered I pass them off to someone with better eyes.
David
-
Only if you are going to build a bow,or plan on shooting. The problem we have is some come and build bows under the shed and take up all the work stations and don't plan on shooting or being in the Challenge, then the ones that want to be in it don't have a place to work. It a balancing act ,we want everyone to have fun and work on their bow if they like but also need to keep it open enough so everyone that wants to compete in the challenge can have room also, Jon done a very good job last year keeping it rolling along. It's surely a labor of love and not about the money but the only way we are able to pay for all the sandpaper/belts/blades [ 10 last year on the big saw and 4 on the small one ]and keep the equipment up is with the registration fee
we receive and then you get to work on bows along with shooting the main course once and the practice range all you want. Man what a deal, just all the free bull you will hear is worth that. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D
Pappy
-
10-4 Pappy. Thanks. I thought that is what I remembered.
If possible, I will bring my own Sawhorse/Vice. Someone can use it.
It sets out in the rain all the time anyway so it should feel right at home. ;D
David
-
Would it be ok if a first timer shows up on Thursday?
-
You bet, lots come in Monday and Tuesday,I will be there from the Friday before
April 26 till the Monday after May 6th. :) You can sure get more 1 on 1 time if you show up early, may even put you to work. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
-
Me and Steve will be there on the 26th. Maybe the 25th. Anyway if I see anyone walking around looking sad I'm calling 911 because they have a big problem. I've made almost all of them and have always had a great time. I can remember when the members of Twin Oaks and the campers where almost the same number and now its turned into the best family reunion around. Heck I even hear tell they do something called shooting. I'll have to try that out. >:D
-
Bear... We shoot there. As i recall your one of the best..... Shoot the breeze, shootin the bull... etc. >:D
-
and shoot a beer
-
I thought I was a pretty good bull shooter til I came to Classic. I only hit the 6 ring compared to some of those folks. haha
-
Ya their are a bunch of 10 and 12 rings hit in the Bull shooting Class. That's probably the biggest and toughest class we have to try and compete in. ;) ;D
Pappy
-
It's the only class I don't need to get lucky to hit 10s and 12s. ;D
-
I'm sure I wouldn't be competitive in the bull class being the choir boy that I am. >:D >:D Ron
-
Pappy, what length, width and tooth bandsaw blades do you use there, I work at a machinery supply business and we stock the material and weld them ourselfs, I might want to gift you guys some blades.
Jon, I know Donna is looking forward to seeing Bonnie, she really enjoys her company, not to mention I can't wait to see the kids.
Pat, we missed you guys last year too, it was like something was missing.
Now comes the long count down, vehicle maint, practice shooting, and coming up with a list of what to bring. I think the planning is almost as fun as the event.
VB
-
Pappy, what would be too fun, if some of these BS-ers would take the stage for a "biggest story" contest. That would pack the dinning area almost as full as Saturday's meal. haha
-
Ya hedge but we would have to make it a 2 or 3 week event to get them all in. ;) :) :) Mark the big saw is 111 inch blade 3/4 wide 3 hook is what I nomaly use. That would be great but don't go to a lot of trouble. We nned to have fried cabage on the menu, ;) :) Mark when do yall plan on coming in ?
Pappy
-
Hedgeapple, i was thinkin the same thing... A bull shootin competition.. Lol.. Brian
-
Jon - Pappy. I would love to help out the Challenge folks if you allow me. I prefer to work alone at home on my own bows, but boy do I love helping and running my mouth with new folks. Let me know if you need a hand teaching people the wrong way to make a bow!
Cant wait to see you guys again and meet up with a bunch of "names" Ive known for a few years.

We like all the help we can get! Pappy likes his friends to help to be sure!
-
I guess that eliminates you Pearlie! ;D
-
Yup, count me out. Pappy and I aint friends because I drink foreign owned companies domestically brewed beer. DANG-IT!
-
just a bit of Southern sarcasm, Pearlie! ;D A brown paper bag will conceal the brand from Pappy. Heck, he'll be so busy runnung around it won't be too hard to do. ;)
-
And I caught right on to that southern sarcasm with my infinite knowledge base of northern sarcasm!
-
Same animal, different accent! ;)
-
Right on buddy!
-
More the merrier,Love to have you Pearl/Chris/Pat/David/Mike/Gary/Dave/Hole bow Chuck/Clint and Many many others already know what they are in for,but they keep coming back. :) Jon/GregB/ Beverly try and keep things some what organized but it usuall gets out of hand by Saturday evening so we do the best we can to make sure all that need help get it. BigA /Will/Chuck and myself will try to help all we can but their is so much going on in other places we sometime don't get the time we want in the shop ,that is why all my friends are so much appreciated.Couldn't pull it off without yall. :) :) Hope I didn't miss any names,I am very sure I did but their are so many that give so much to make this event as successful as it has become. Thanks to all. :)
Pappy

I can't believe this post made it to page 6 before I saw it. I'll be there. I'm hoping to get there Tuesday or Wednesday and stay until the weekend. Pappy if its alright with you I will bring my traveling workbench and leave the workstations for the new guys. I can't wait to hear the sound of that full work area again.
-
Earlier the better Clint,I will be there all week. :)
Pappy
-
I'll be there Tuesday, probably by myself, Bubba is moving to Florida end of the month, and I doubt if Bro Steve can go with work an all. Could come earlier if I bring my coon hound or put her in the kennel for a week, wife ain't to fawn of her. When you get around BearG, Cracker, Otis, bring your boots, it gets deep, I'm just saying. My son just bought a 37' 5th wheel toy hauler camper, nice, said I could use it, Think it'll make it down the hill, I could bring a golf cart to haul my big butt around. see you soon, BDan
-
Looking forward to it Dan,sorry to hear that about Bubba,we will miss him around
there. :) Wished Steve could get off. :(

Dan you know that big one from Pa. got down the hill. Yep going to miss old Bubba. Your dog for a week wouldn't be bad, she listing any better? Come on down early.
-
Yea Bear, she's doing alot better, maturing and I got her fixed. you just have to yell "treat' if she goes to far off. BDan
-

thats every dogs come call I think. If you go early and bring a big 5th wheel I can leave mine home. Been thinking about that anyway. Still havent fixed the roof, got it setting so it dont leak in driveway. All my money going to HD.
-
So I here a lot about helping people build bows but what about helping people shoot their bows? I must say that hitting the target is my biggest problem. >:D Oh well, guess I'll have to console myself with a nice stave of some sort if I can't hit anything.
-
Ben, you will have lots of opportunity to shoot and lots of folks to help you out with suggestions and recommendations.
-
Can't bear to wait to get there and see a crowd of folks makin' and breakin' bows. I'm bringing my toolbox. And more importantly, I am bringing my knife/blade sharpening gear. Be happy to sharpen blades for folks while we swap outrageous truths cleverly disguised as b.s.
-
JW, I have a groundhog story to share with you. Oh, the one about some "good ol' boys" running a manditory portage 4 ft waterfall in flat bottom johnboat equipted with trolling motor. Then there's the Grizzy Mouse Hunt. haha haha
And, I forgot to mention, I've bent an elbow at Shotgun Willies on a couple occassions. ;)
-
hey pappy,
my daughter has already started bugging me about going this year. she had a blast with all the other kids. i'll be there with something to sell or trade. take care!
-
JW: I am going to bring ALL of my wifes kitchen knives and let you sharpen them. ;D
David
-
Sounds like it's gonna be another hoot this year. Ron
-
Cool,Chris I will save you a good spot, heard from James ? Ya Ronnie it is coming together and should be another good one. :)
Pappy
-
Jest save my usual spot. Ron
-
Save my usual spot too. ;)
-
Me too, save my spot. :D :D :D
-
Pappy, I missed last year and hope that wasn't the reason that you had great weather, but I was a little puney and promise not to bring any nasty weather, just sunshine and rainbows..
-
I loved the spot I had last year. It's kind of risky setting up camp next to the creek though.
-
With only 2 years of Classic experience in my quiver, I still feel pretty safe is saying there are no "bad spot" at Twin Oaks. Oh some might be better/dryer than other, but no bad spots. :)
-
Oh my Ch-Ching is around again! Pappy and I was talking about you not to long ago!
-
Well it may get wet but after the 13th with 17 inches of rain I would say the creek ant going to get out of it's banks. We may get muddy but at least not get washed away. ;) ;D ;D Chuck great to hear from you,we been wondering about you.Hope all is well and hope Maw is still and pretty and frisky as ever. :) Hope yall can make it back, sure missed ya and would love to see yall again. :) :) :)
Pappy
-
Still don't understand why anyone thinks you'll get wet. Pack your cooler go to shop area or pavlian sit down and have fun. Knowone I know that come is going to melt, maybe float away but we'll catch them before they hit the Cumberland. >:D
-
LOL....if you are in the lower parking area, and see Seabass walking up to the pavilion with his snorkel and diving mask on, you can bet it is going to rain >:D >:D >:D >:D
-
Don't take much more than a sprinkle for him to get under water. ;) ;D ;D I just can't help it Steve. ;)
Pappy
-

Pappy
Now thats funny!!!!
-
Pappy, I'll be bringing a buddy, we shoot flintlocks and he is anxious to shoot his new primitive bamboo Osage bow.. his name is Ben Irwin and he is a hoot. You will like him and he will love the Classic. Ben will set up his primitive camp that he uses at the many rendezvous. You know that Maw and the Dog won't miss. I talked with Ray and Sharon and they said that they wanted to come again.
-
Hey Cha-ching! You and me and all the other charcoal burners oughta pick a day and dress Rondy-style! Hehaw! Get them bib overall wearin' crowd wondering about us!
-
talked to james tonight. he's planning on being there if his job doesn't get in the way.

-
Very cool, like a big Home coming, got to love that. Really looking forward to seeing all of yall. :) Chris just let me know and I will save yall the same place you were last time if that's OK. :)
pAPPY
-
JW, Great to hear from other Muzzleloaders that also use wood and string. Chuck
-
Hey Cha Ching good to see you're gonna be here this year missed you and ma last year don't miss out no more. JW don't worry we are already wondering about you. Ron
-
Cracker, can't wait to see you, I still believe your a Georgia Professor!
-
Ya thats what he is,how did you guess Chuck. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
-
Ahhhhhemmmm ???
-
Oh that Ron, he is such a Georgia peach! BDan
-
He is that, ;) ;D for the last several years I always look forward to that week before the Classic,he shows up with several more on Sunday or Monday when I still have some time to visit, really enjoy that a lot. Plus they pitch in and throw me a hand if I need it. Great bunch. :)
Pappy
-
Well I'm not going to start a count down but, I only have 56 more days till I'm at THE CLASSIC. Man that seems like a long time off but. it's end of next month. 8)
-
Pappy,i'll be there to lend you a hand.i am making a few things now for your raffle.i'll bring them down when me,Bear and Dan show up on the 15th.i should have them done by then.see you soon.
-
Thanks Steve, your help is always appreciated, you don't have worry about the raffle but again appreciated. ;) :) :)It's less than 2 months and man the time is flying, need to get in gear and get things ready. :o Seems like a long time but it will be here before you know it. :) :)
Pappy
-
47 DAYS
-
47 DAYS
Its about time you started the countdown.
-
I'm thinking about heading up that way, any room left :)
-
I'm sure Pappy can squeeze ya in down by the creek. :)
-
So I need to bring a raft big enough to fit my tent in... :)
-
So as a new comer to the Classic...
Do we need to RSVP for a camp site?
Should I add my Fishing Waders to my camping kit? :)
I have a Truck Tent so I'd be sleeping in the back of my truck.
And I'll be hauling a small box trailer.
-gus
-
First come first pick of camping sites. I'm gonna get help and pick a site 2-3 weeks early. ;D
-
Plenty of room,we will fit you in,heck PatB slept in the back seat one year with
another one or 2, ;) ;D ;D so we will make room. Can't figure out where all the wet jokes come from, ;) ;D ;You would think it rains in Tennessee sometimes.
The first year Chuck [Cha Ching] came ,I saw him coming down the drive with 2 Kayak's on the top of his truck,I said O so you have heard of this place. ;) :D I will say the earlier in the week you come the better pick of spots.I will be there all week so come on anytime. :) We have a great time early in the week also. :)
Pappy
-
I thought I'd just bring my pontoon boat and camp on that. Just to be on the safe side. Ron
-
All right... should be pulling in sometime Wednesday evening...
Hopefully before it gets dark. :)
-gus
-
Looks like we got a race Gus! I plan to pull in late afternoon. I know one thing, if I drive all the way from North Central Michigan, it better be fun!!!!!
-
Pearly is you don't have fun here you can forget it. Ron
-
It would be his own fault, wouldn't it Ronnie? ;)
Hey Pearlie, 2 years ago Keenan drove from Oregon then after the Classic he drove to Texas then back to Oregon...with a bad back! So quit ya whining! :P
-
last time I came it rained 18in heard the sun has been shinning ever since,, may be bad luck when I come,,,i am bring ing the biggest load of osage blanks that has ever been seen in one pile,,will be there on Monday,,Plan on doing lots of cooking during the week every one feel free to stop by there will be lots of food
-
Hey Mike. You always have the biggest stack of osage anyway and usually lots of food. It will be good to see you back at Twin Oaks again.
-
Sounding good,Pearl that ant no drive,I do it one stop 8 hours,no problem. Like they said if you don't have fun,I don't know what to do with you. ;) :) Mike I will be watching for you,I will be there from the Friday before till all the yanks are out of the holler. ;) :) :) hopefully the Monday after. ;) ;D By that time I really need a break. :) ???
Pappy

Oh I will have fun, I was being a sarcastic northerner! I was going to ask you how long it took you Pappy. 8 hours is an easy run. My bro-in-law is coming with me. He is a chef by trade and school. We will be eating good ourselves.
I cant wait to finally meet all you jokers in person.
-
I can't wait! Pappy you want me to make a big stew or something for the early birds? I was planning on something like that to hold us over for acouple of days. think I'll make collars again for Saturday supper.
If anyone needs items frrom Tandy feel free to order them and have it at the Cincinnati location and I'll bring them down. Just let me know.
-
Man I better get busy and finish my party hat...
8)
-gus
-
You guys gonna want fried cabbage this year and salsa?
VB
-
Bear, I'll be there Wednesday. I can add something to your stew pot. Just tell me what. I may need to do a Tandy order again this year. I'll let you know. ;)
Can't have too many chefs at the Classic. There will surely be plenty of mouths to fill.
-
yep Bear,Yep Mark and yep I can hardly wait. We have a meeting Sat with my list of things to do ,the guys always love that. :)
Pappy
-
Bear if you need something for the stew pot, let me know and I will bring it. I will get there when you and Steve do.
-
PD that 8 hours is not letting the grass grow so depending on the time you are on the road it may be more like 9 for you.I usually drive at night, leaving at 7/8 pm and driving all night so I have no traffic to deal with, usually smooth sailing,I set
her on 75/78 and roll. It takes Rocky and the bunch more like 12 but they are in a buss and running about 60/65. :) Charlie you coming in Early in the week ? :) :)
Pappy
-
Yeah Pappy. Hopefully be there the Friday before, like last year. ;)
-
PatB. can't be sure anything in the stew pot will be left on Wed. but we can make another pot or whatever. Charlie I'll be bringing it already made up, so don't worry about that.
-
Pappy we are leaving at 3 am Wednesday morning. Im hoping we pull in no later than noon. I want to help you guys get some of the dirty work done. Plus get a chance to shoot the bull before the masses amass.
-
Chris, get there early as you can.once the classic starts,Pappy and the boys are busy as bees.it is nice to spend some quality time with them early in the week.plus you can hang out with me and Bear, bonus lol
-
Steve we are going to tie you to a vise in the bow shop this year and help you make a couple of bows.
-
sounds good Clint.i have had a bad year trying to make one.i got a couple in the works.one is a snakey osage that i have the ring chased on.i am going to bring it with me to get a little tillering help.
-
Hows he gonna get any work done if he's tied down and his feet don't reach the ground ?...lol
Steve I might b there as early as Sunday so you know the best time will be early in the week before the madhouse hits to help ya out....you n Charlie can split my two cents of knowledge (which aint much)
-
i'll take any help i can get Chris.thanks brother.
-
That makes three of us.....lol
-
Dont ask me. I aint helpin' nobody...................especially Stevey and Charlie......noper.........never liked working on bows much anyway.
-
Steve and I figure by the time you get there from that 8 hour drive, (mine is 12 hours) you will be so whipped that you will have to be carried up too the bow working stating and have blackhawk help you???
And on another note, be careful, I have your feathers >:D >:D >:D
-
Blackhawk help ME? Hardly buddy, he will be begging for tips on my masterful tillering and stave layout! I told Steve we would whip him up a static so I wouldnt have to make him one myself up here. Better bring a straight one Stevey! I will bring my caul.
-
Pappy,
Trying to get a couple of guys to come down with me and we were wondering if we could come down and land at your place on thursday evening to set up. That would give us two full days at your event.
Thanks
Jon
-
This classic is going to get very interesting, I can see it now...lol
-
Chris,i will have a straight one by the time you get there.how long does it need to be?
-
You mean you will have two straight one's don't you Steve?????????????????
-
Clean and straight, already down to a nice back to. Bring something in the 64" range. We will nip it down.
-
i'll have a few staves Charlie.
-
You bet Jon,I will be there all week. Great Chris, yes you should be there by noon
if all goes good through Indy and Louisville. you should be through Indy before traffic hits much but Louisville may be another story. :)
Pappy
-
46 more days.
-
Your the man Bear, when are yall coming in for the open shoot ?
Pappy
-
i'll have a few staves Charlie.
So Im showing you all my static secrets and Chuck gets rewarded with a stave? What kind of middle man crap is that?
-
i didn't say he was getting a stave Chris,i just said i would have a few.plus all that osage him and his buddies have been cutting,it appears he's set on yeller wood.maybe he should give us a stave lol.
-
Just around the corner now! Can't wait to sit my butt in pit and hang out! I have a friend planning to come and build his first bow with the group. He's excited as heck! Gonna be good times for sure.
Scott
-
Plan on me staring over your shoulder some Scott. I have yet to watch 30 seconds of knapping. Is it time? Or big mistake to even start?
-
Depends on how much time you got. With your focus and determination, I can near guarantee you would do well at it. Your biggest hurdle is gonna be finding a source for material! If you want to set down I can show you some basic, though.
Scott
-
After recieving those heads you sent me, I cant wait to watch a little and try to learn some knapping myself Scott.
-
Sounding good, looks like it is starting to take shape.Miss Joanie and I are headed to Sam's this evening to start bringing in supplies,we have to stock up for the open shoot this weekend but always buy up a bunch that will be left over for the Classic, ;)you would need a semi to haul it all at onse so we get started early. ;) Looking so forward to it, spread the word be here before you know it. ;) :)
Pappy
-

Looks like we will be spending some time together Scott! I dont know if another branch off of this primitive hobby is what I need right now, but hey you only live once if your lucky.
-
Steve, and Pearl. All my osage is at least a year out to dry yet. Maybe I can have some for next year. I will be looking around down at the classic to have something to work on while there, and maybe bring home a couple. Just have to see how the trading and my money holds out...lol
-
I fully intend on bringing plenty back with me to Charlie. I have plenty now, but it goes fast around my shop and quite honestly every stave I have is a challenge. I need a dozen or so cleaner staves for statics.
-
I will be happy with just a couple....lol. I am a lot slower than you guys though.....
-
Charlie if you play your cards right you shouldn't have to buy any wood down there ;).... for example I'm always in need of arrows cus I'm not a big fan of making arrows...ehemm....;)....ill have plenty of osage and others to trade n barter with
Are we there yet? ::)
-
:) :) :) :) :) :)
-
Hey guys, is this event kid friendly? Not sure if I can make it away from work yet but if I do I may tent it with my 3.5 year old. What do you think? Also if my wife decided to go are there hotels remotely near by? trust me it will be better for all of us if she doesn't have to sleep in a tent. ::) ;) thanks!
-
I'm planning on bringing one of PD's Clean Yeller Staves to the Classic...
Its a Roo Rawhide backed Molly with about 300 arrays through it so far...
Tried to lay down some Black Snake skins on her back around Christmas but they didn't stay on.
My first attempt with snake skins and I Botched it. :o
-gus

Charlie,i'm very low on osage at the moment.i will be getting some from Kerry when he gets there.i'll see what i can do for ya.i am sure someone will have a stave for you brother.me and you are gonna have some kind of deal going on some shaft material, you can probably get a stave on that deal. ;)
-
Oh I am sure I will find some with no problem Steve, and thanks guys. This is going to be fun.
-
PAHunter check out our web site[lot of stuff to look at plus a section with all the local motels listed with #s [twinoaksbowhunters@wordpress.com] and I would say kid friendly for sure. You may see someone drinking a beer but I can assure no one will be out of hand,we try and keep it under cover as best we can during the day, now after dark is different but still I won't allow anyone to get out of hand I promise you that. Between Kerry and Mike I can assure yall there will,be
plenty of yellow wood to go around. I have talked to Mike and will talk to Kerry and yall can help in this, please don't sell someone a stave that has never build a bow and have them come over and want in the selfbow challenge, its tough enough for a new person that has never built a bow to get one ready to shoot in a couple of days if they start with a bow blank. At very least have the ring chased if it is Osage and a bow laid out, then they have a chance in getting it shooting. :)
Some think the selfbow challenge is a class on building bows, but in truth when Gary and I thought it up,it was supposed to be ,you come build a bow and shoot the course for score, our thinking was everyone was in the same bolt.No real time to tweak or tune the bow or get use to it.If you didn't get a shooting bow you didn't meet the Challenge. Simple ??? Anyway it is always a great time for me and I am really looking forward to it. See yall soon. :)
Pappy
-
I agree, you may see someone drinking a beer............me!
-

There are some hotels about 10-15 minutes away. I stayed at the Holiday Inn 2 years ago and had no complaints. Last year I stayed in a tent and had a much better time. The place is very kid friendly also.
-
Absolutely kid friendly! Mine have been 3 times now starting at 6&8 years old. My wife is coming again this year!
Tracy
-
thanks guys! I'm gonna try my best to make it down this year. I'll see if I can talk my wife into making it a family trip. :)
-
Good luck with that rob....I tried to talk the wife into making it a family thing this year, but she didn't wanna take the kids out of school and be gone that long 9 hours away from home, plus she said she'd never see me all week...lol
Are we there yet? ::)
-
And she would be right Chris. ;) :) :) Little over a month. :)
Pappy
-

Pappy

Pappy do you have any use for a 42 cup coffe perculator? Its almost new. They where throwing it out at work, I grabbed it up thinking you may need one down yonder. Let me know and it will make the trip with me.
-
You bet, hard for us to keep up sometimes on Saturday morning if it is cool and damp, seem everyone wants to hang out in the pavilion and drink coffee and shoot the bull, imagine that. ;) :) Thanks.
Pappy
-

yes I will,, cant wait to do a little cooking maybe you can bring us some onions ;D
-
Most likely!
-
I've been buried a bit in the bowshop. Any mention of fixins' for a boil, yet? I'd like to contribute, if so!
-
We got the pot and thanks to Cracker we got the cooker and I am sure I can come up with something to throw in if anyone wants to fool with it,I'm in. :)
Pappy
-
I will contribute. :o
-
Okay, I'll bring a bag of onions. I'll also try to keep track of who's bringing what and post periodically. I'll start a thread.
-
Pappy I have a silly question (s). Do we need to bring some firewood or is it a given that there is plenty around? Also, can we make small fire pits at our camp site or is that a no-no?
-
Drums: I'll help Pappy out.
#1 There is enough campfire wood.
#2 Yes, you can build a fire at your campsite. Ask for a fire ring.
Also, your in-camp fire will likely be just for cooking. There is a community fire by the knapping and bow making pits that will have you there as late or long as you want to be. Its commonly called, "The Never Ending Campfire". True, it never goes out.
It's pretty laid back, Drums. If you have any more of that Apple Pie, it will be appreciated by all! Miss Heather says to keep it away from James Parker and myself. :P :-[ :-\. Rain early in the morning, forced me out of my bedroll. It was a real stumbler back up to the pits where all of my camera equipment was getting wet. I went back to sleep for a few....
-
It never rains at The Classic >:D >:D
-
I've heard all the stories of rain at the Classic and the Big Flood of Classic 13. I've been to Classic 14 and 15; the only rain I "hear" was in the middle of the night last year. So, I'm thinking I'm a rain repellant, an unbrella if you will.
Maybe, I should negociate gas money to keep the rain away. haha ;)
-
By all means, Hedgeapple. We need you to hold the rain back!
-
Thanks Matt ,and yes by all means Hedge,I wondered why the weather has been so good the last couple of years. ;) :) :)
Pappy
-
I'd give some gas money, with a no rain promise. >:D
-

My fruit of the looms are still not dry from that one!

Thanks Matt! I plan on bringing one of those porta pits with me. The ground will be unscathed when we pull out. I dont like leaving "foot prints" anywhere I go. Man is the aniticpation just killin' me! I cant wait to get down there and see and meet ya'll. Great times for sure.
Im going to grab a few jugs of dads apple squeezins' to share. It only gets better as it ages!
-
Apple squezns do tell sounds good I'll make apple pie libations to go with it. Ron
-
Its sweet apple cider that accidently gets left in an old 55 gallon whiskey barrell to breath for a few months, then its sealed off after the bubbling quits. Its all on accident of course, but you cant just waste it! So we swill it down.......every year on accident. It will make your tangue slap the side of your head, at least thats what dad says. Its yummy Ron.
-
I can hardly wait to taste it. We have a lot of happy accidents like that too. Ron
-
My one piece of advice: Like shine, respect it!
-
I'm going to hold off on all my trades until late at night. Maybe I'll get some better deals once everyone gets shined up ;D
-
Cept me, I get more and more cheap as I drink! Better catch me right after coffee time Clintster.
-
Dang it Pearly I was gonna say that but you beat me to it , now I gotta come up with something original. Ron
-
LOL....oh I saw a whole lot of respect for the stuff on Saturday night, but twice the regrets on Sunday. :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'( O:) :embarassed: :laugh:
-

Well in that case, text me when you start down the gravel hill. We'll handle our bidness before you have a chance to get warmed up ;D
-
And don't anyone tell Matt that it never rained that night ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
You guys ant right. ;) :o
Pappy
-
I'm in this year! ;D ;D Can't bring my little girl this time but maybe next year. Lookin forward to experiencing the classic for the first time!
-
Sweet rob :)
-
Looks like their will be a lot of first timers, hope we can live up to the hipe. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
-
Pappy, you could have some "Classic Virgin" t-shirts printed up, but then again, they might not sale too good. >:D
-
No worries, Pappy. I'll guarantee the Tenn Classic will live up to the hype! ;)
-
Im gonna be there.............what else is gonna take?
-
Pappy, you could have some "Classic Virgin" t-shirts printed up, but then again, they might not sale too good. >:D
Put a large target on the back!
Put me down for two, both larges. How much$$$?
-

You could do two styles. The "Classic Virgin" shirt with the target on the back has an arrow sticking an outer ring. The "Classic Veteran" shirt has an arrow in the 10 ring.
-
25 days, and I am heading South East. I better start packing :D :D :D
-
Charlie, if you go too far southeast you'll be in the Atlantic Ocean. Too cold for that yet. ;) Southwest would be a better direction.
-
25 days here as well, can't wait.
-
Getting a little antsy myself. Ron
-
Now you know why I don't go many places, or at least show up at many places...lol. I might want to take my gps with me.....roflmao...
-
LMAO.... good catch pat ....
Now were getting somewhere..now were getting close....well closer than January anyways...lol...about 26 or so for me
Are we there yet? ::)
-
I am in spirit, Chris! 8)
-
Yea but which brand of spirits are we talking about here Pat?
-
Its def an "out of body" experience Ron ...you'll have to teach us that trick pat ;) 8)
-
The anticipation is just killing myself and Miss Heather. She loves it there. 19 days or so!
-
I'm open for suggestions, Ronnie...septin for apple pie! I like mine neat!!! ;)
-
It's gonna be a long long ride.....lol.
-
I quess we'll see what turns up Pat could be interestin :o
-
Yes it will, Ronnie! I can hardly wait.
-
I thought I might bring a few seegars. Anyone smoke?
-
I am bringing a few also. We'll have an old fashion smoke in. ::)
-
Would a pipe count?
-
Whatever floats you're boat my grandad used to cut a cigar in half poke one of the pieces in the pipe and light it.Ron
-
Hopefully ya'll allow me to smoke a Black & Mild with you fellas. :-[ Sounds strange kinda, but they're my favorite.
-
I wouldn't mind trying a decent cigar if someone has an extra.
Hey Matt, what kind of B & M do you like?
-
Fine Tequila and some Oliva V's will be coming with me...
And my trade bow in the works...
Thinking the feller I'm building for wouldn't mind some Classic Who-Doo in his bow...
What's the ruling on someone accidentally working on their own trade bow?
Not saying I'd seek them out, but it is a curiosity.
Or should I keep a tarp on hand to hurriedly cover the stave and start whistling as they walk by?
>:D
-gus

Clint, I'm liking just the regular or the B & M Mild. The apple and others, don't do much for me. Just like my black coffee. No foo-foo.
-
Gus, I'll have my Stave Master and some tools there and you are welcomed to use them. As long as non-participants in the Selfbow Challenge don't get in the way of participants everything is OK! ;)
Matt, like I always said...smoke um if you got um. You too, JW.
Clint, I'll have one for you.
-
I quess we'll see what turns up Pat could be interestin :o
Man those peaches in you brought packed in "water" a few years ago packed a punch :o

Ron, you taking orders. I got some MT jars you can fill up for me. Wonder if those boys from South Carolina are coming, they had some pretty good juice, must be the water. BDan
-
25 days till my first Classic! Getting there early to lend a hand and get a jump start on absorbing as much info as possible. I have a ton of questions. Many people have helped me on here, but I am a "hands on" kinda learner (and slow learner). I need help on tillering, handle wrapping, finishes, layout and design, meeting weight, arrow making, and flint knapping. Ha! That about covers the whole spectrum, huh? Oh yeah, I need to work on my shooting skills as well. You veterans will be ready to through me in the creek by the time this is over!
-
I'm about 99% I'm going to make it. It will be my first classic as well. Probably get there on Wednesday and stay till Saturday.
I won't be able to bring much in the way of staves or stuff like that, but I am ready to help out as much as needed :)
-
I was looking forward to meeting you guys but it has changed to a 50/50 chance of making it :'( Work is crazy. If I do not make this one I will DEFINITELY make one of those Michigan shoots.
-
Bro Dan, Eric and his Dad Randy from SC will be there. ;D
-
Ya I need to round that boy up a bow. He made a down payment last year,or maybe it was a bribe. ;) ;D ;D Closing in on us,less than a month and still lots to do.Can't hardly wait. paulsemp I hope it works out for you and C D looking forward to meeting you in person. :)
Pappy
-
Cool news duck and Paul!
Paul Im at almost all the Michigan shoots. Im easy to spot, tall, fat beer gut, ugly and with a self bow in my hands or near by most often!

How dare you thats my description!
-
Just found out for sure that I can make it this year! Anyone in my neck of the woods need a travel buddy? ;D
-
Ryan I have a truck load already, or I would have you along in a second. Marty mentioned wanting to go to, check him out.
See you there buddy!
-

Oh yea, I am the same but short and bald
-
Well, I been told I look like a cross between Matt Damon and Paul Newman, just not as tall or as handsome.
Actually more like a cross between Danny DeVito and Ernest Borgnine, just not as tall or as handsome.
-
The first year Eddie came down,we got a suprise,he told us he was tall /dark and handsom ,with a full head of jet black hair. ;) ;D ;D ;D We didn't quite see it that way. ;) :)
Pappy

Does anyone want any linseed oil? I have some from my grandpa's old shed. I don't want it. It is some old stuff but I think it is still good. Can it go bad? I have almost two gallons of the stuff and I can bring it with me. I'm not looking for anything in return.
-
Bring the oil for Pappy, he uses everything. :)
-
OK. Will do. Glad someone can use it.
-
Clint, is it boiled linseed oil or raw? The raw takes forever to dry.
-
I'm not sure Pat. I'll check it out and let you know. It's old stuff.
-
OK, most of it is pure linseed oil. There is one can of boiled linseed oil. Does anyone still want it?
-
Several folks on this thread and others have asked to shoot a someone else's bow. I've only shot bows made by GMC and the one Blackhawk made for me. So I had this idea that might be of interest to some at the classic. We get together as a group Saturday morning to shoot the practice course. Each station or 2 we switch bows to shoot one made by a different person. Anyone interested?
-

Grouping according to draw length and draw weight would help, but still some guys are pretty touchy about someone else pulling their bow.
-
JW, I completely understand your comment. I shoot 26" draw and I wouldn't want someone pulling one of my bows 31". But with a group of experience bowyers, I wouldn't have much a problem trusting them not to over draw me bow. But, I'd probably still put a rubber band around my arrow for them as a reminder. Still this type of shoot would not be everyone's cup of tea. And I respect that.
I relate asking someone if I can shoot their bow to asking someone if I can take their Harley for spin? It's a very personal thing.
With the right bunch of folks this could be a fun outing, though.
-
Sounds like fun,ask around and try and put something together,I would like to but I suspect I will be pretty busy about then. ;) ;D ;D at least I hope I am. ;) 19 days for me, getting excited. :) Sure bring it Clain, like Jon said I use everything or know someone that will. I use to use it a lot but like Pat said takes a while to dry if you try putting it on like Tru oil. :)
Pappy

I relate asking someone if I can shoot their bow to asking someone if I can take their Harley for spin? It's a very personal thing.
With the right bunch of folks this could be a fun outing, though.
Im in Dave. Im with you 100% on the above. I am flattered each time Im asked to shoot anothers bow. Trust is a cool thing.
I
-
I might be interested with the "right" people Dave...but I don't think anyone wants to shoot my junkers ::)
-
Osage Outlaw:
I will take a bit of the Linseed oil off you hands.
What size (and type) of containers is it in???
Thanks
David
-
Old metal cans. I'll try to pour it in some plastic jugs.
-
Overdrawing could be a big issue on some of the bows. I'd hate to see a bunch of guys coming back out of the hills with two halves of a bow.
-
Get your arrows to the right length and all is well !
I would be honored to shoot with you, but who would want to shoot my junk !
-

Oh well...if someone breaks my junk I'll just laugh it up,walk over into the shop, and walk out ten minutes later with a new one ;)
-
Hawky, by Saturday morning you'll have 2 or 3 new bows that need shot in, anyhow.
My draw is 26". I always tiller my bows to 27 usually 28". So, I'll just show up with 27" arrows and all is good with me.
Looks like we have Pearly, Buckeye, Hawky and myself. What time such meet up Saturday?
-
Not too early now Dave! You can count Clint in, he will be game when it all boils down.
-
10-4 Osage Outlaw
I will take a quart or a two liter soda bottle or something like that worth of the leenseed oil.
Thanks
David
-
I'd love to shoot with you guys if I can get stuff ready. I'll tag along anyway. Hawk may need a bow shot in. :D
-
Before Pearly wakes up !
That way we can out shoot him, with his own bow !! >:D
-
I'll bring all the bows I've made and whoever wants to shoot them can :) I'd love some constructive criticism from some awesome bowyers :)
-
Before Pearly wakes up !
That way we can out shoot him, with his own bow !! >:D
You can do that when Im awake you ol' worthless nut from O-HI-O!
-
I'm thinking between 8 and 10 AM, with 8 being a little early for some of us who hang in the bow shed til the wee hours making bows, yeah making bows is what we're doing. No BS or drinking going on at all. :)
-
10-4 Osage Outlaw

David
Gotcha David. I poured some into a few plastic containers. I'll save it for you and Pappy.
-

Less chin music and more scraping! By the time you finish a bow, it's ready to fail from dry rot! >:D
-
You guys had best wait to see what Saturday morning has in store before you go planning something. Friday night is one of the longest of the weekend. ;D Heck, it may still be Friday night on Saturday morning for some. ;)
-

Spoken by a true Classic veteran. :) Even with my mere 2 years of experience, I've realized that the bow shop activities thin down around 11PM and by 2AM only a handful of addicts remain making shavings. By 4AM most have subcome to exhaustion and spirits.
I'm bring a stave to work on this Classic. Who knows, I might be waiting for first light Saturday to shoot it. haha Don't I sound ambitious. haha
-
In my younger years I foolishly thought I was a night owl and hooted until my throat was raw. In my mid 30's I ended up with a job that required me to show up at 7:00 a.m. I thought it would kill me, but it turns out that I really do my best work in the wee early hours of the mornings and by about 10:00 a.m. I lose that fine focus.
So if everyone's up late hooting, I'll be resting up to make best use of the pre-dawn and dawn hours in the shaving shed! If Pappy will show me where the coffee makings are, I'll try to get the ball rolling.
I'm already starting to lose sleep in anticipation of losing my never-been-to-a-Tn-Classic status!
-
I am with you JW been getting up at 4am for so many years that my internal alarm just wont change anymore !!
only I am sure that I will never get old enough to drink mud (coffee) or what ever you folks have in them cups !! That stuff is nasty ! even tried killing it with cream and lotssss of sugar but still could not get it down !
It will be good to see y'all
Are we there yet !!!
-
I just hope it wont rain!!!!!!!!! 8)
-
4am JW's time is 7am Twin Oaks time! ;)
-
Yep it is some late nights for me also ,but as all know that has been there,if you beat me up you done something, several nights I go in at 2:30-3:00 and up with
coffee and breakfast started at 4. I will catch up when its over. ;) :) I have come out at 4 and guys still beating rocks and scraping on bows. ;) :)
Pappy
-
I've been up with Pappy on those late nights after a few final, finals. ;) Its a rare thing to get up and moving the next morning before Pappy does. I don't know he does it.
-
18 days and then it's off to paradise for a week......or more >:D
-
Same here, Charlie. Can't wait!
-
Went out yesterday and today to try and get a mess of pan fish to fry up one evening while at the classic. So far, nothing, just two very very small brim yesterday. Might have to heat up a can of sardines and think of them as fried fish... :o
-

-
Bummer !
Oh well as long as dad brings us wood we will forgive you ! >:D

-
I will see what I can do Pearl. ;) ;D ;D Charlie I stay in enough trouble without your help. ;) ;D ;D Gus that's great, one thing I can say about this bunch, they can eat and ant really picky about what it is and long as it a lot of it. ;) :) :) Got 2 more calls from MI. yesterday so looks like we will have plenty of Yankees around, also 2 from NC, 1 said he knew Pat,can't remember his name and several from South Al. Lot of new folks that seen the article in PA [Thanks Matt] and just want to come check us out so you guys/gals be on your best behavior. ;) ;D ;D ;D
Pappy
-
We all can at times Pappy, but it is so much fun to have it documented...lol. 16 days, but who is counting??
-
Hey Pappy! I talked to the boss yesterday and he promised to get me a load down there for the classic. There is still no guarantee that the loads will work out, but it is sounding good so far. Hopefully I can get there early enough to park the Ken-a-bago at the bottom of the hill this year. That walk up the hill after an all nighter in the knapping pit is hard on a fat man! I hope to enjoy some more Southern hospitality again real soon! Josh
-
I am going to sit back, watch all the action, and take lots of blackmale, I mean pictures to post >:D >:D >:D
Take lots of black male huh? ??? >:D  ....have fun with that n keep me away from that action :-X
That's just wrong!! But very funny >:D

:o Oh my! I believe I'll leave that alone. Josh
-
Looking out my Hell Room window at Hawk Huston's trailer, a foot of new snow, and zero degrees which makes the trip to the farm even harder to wait for! My job is to get my stuff loaded and be ready to head out to Clarksville when Hawk shows up from Montana! Really looking forward to seeing the people I have met there before and the new ones that will be there this time. God Bless Pappy, Miss Joanie, and all the members that make this possible! Joe
-
Don't worry everyone, the pictures will be just for my trips down memory lane later in life. There will be no black male pictures taken I promise. Now there may be a few that we can put some funny captions too later if needed >:D >:D
-
Ok JW, beadman I will be at the classic around 10pm on Thursday....let the fun begin
-
Sounding good,Josh we will try and find the room, just hollor before you set up at the top,may have some options. ;) :) Joe really looking forward to seeing you again and meeting Hawk. John that is great news, was wondering when yall was coming in,Got JW's bed ready and waiting.Just talked to Gary Davis ,he plans on coming in Tuesday evening,he has had some family issues and I was worried he might not make it at all,so yall all have made my day. ;) :) :) Its such a special time for me. :)
Pappy
-
so yall all have made my day. ;) :) :) Its such a special time for me. :)
Pappy
And now you can see how special you are to a CRAP load of people mister! Theres only one Pappy and only one Classic! Here we come!
-
you got that right Chris.
-
Due to some changes of schedule at work I may be able to leave Saturday instead of Monday. Not sure if its ok to get there that early, but heck, this is the one event I look forward to all year.....I'd like to MIIIIILK it! 8)
-
Cody, you won't be alone there on Saturday. Pappy will be there from Friday afternoon and others will probably too. I'm not getting there til Wednesday.
-
Great Cody, Be aware that I may put you to work if you show up that early. ;) :) :)I think Bear and his bunch is coming in Friday or Sat and Cracker is always there early.Come on anytime, like Pat said I am there from the Friday the week before till the Monday after. More the merrier. ;) :)
Pappy
-
Pappy, I'll be there Monday evening and I don't mind helping out wherever I'm needed.
-
Cool Clint, this has turned into a week long event, love it. :)
Pappy
-
I'm planning on being there on Sunday early afternoon. Ron
-
We'll be there either Saturday afternoon or Sunday. See you there!
-
I'm leaving in two weeks from today....taking a lil side trip first for a couple days n I'll be there Mon or Tue or whenever I feel like it ;). I'm so ready for a "classic" vacation :D
-
I'll be there early Saturday morning. I'd be prouder than a puppy with two tails to help ya out Pappy.
-
New to the forum. Joined just to attend this event.
Hope there is a prize for the visitor from farthest away, I am from Alaska.
Looking forward to meeting some of you interesting people. Do you allow dogs? I have two, both retrievers.
-
Great Pappy, would love to help out with anything needed, its not like I can build bows and shoot that whole time! ;) :D
-
I put in my time off request at work today :) I should be there Wednesday afternoon, I might have to head out on Saturday though...
Looking forward meeting everyone and having a good time :)
-
Soungs sweet duck. We will will pulling in the same time. Boy its getting close now!
-
Since everyone is there the weekend before I think next year i will change to that weekend !
Helping out is the part of life I like the best anyway !
That way I will be gone before all the picture taking starts !
Yes I know I am weird that way !
What did you expect from a Worthless old nut anyway ?
I am so glad to have a big brother that is willing to use his time to haul me down there !
Thank you to him and Pappy and all involved !
Are we there yet !!!!
-
Pappy,me and Bear will be down friday with ya.you know i'll work for you.see you soon.
-
New arrow for the tn classic shoot....hope I can find them!
-
Lol! John I am working on two sets of "classic" arrows. One set for the bow Halfeye gave me and one set for a boardbow I'm working on. The way I shoot, I need little GPS trackers on my arrows if I expect to have any when I leave! I'm getting a bit anxious at this point!
Pappy, you mentioned something of an aerial shoot? Should I make up a few flu flu's as well? Sounds like it would be fun! Josh
-
On another thread someone had meantioned having a Burning of the Bows ceremony for the fallen and failed. I think it's a great idea and wonder who else may wanna join in. How about Saturday evening the 4th?
For some of us, we will have to limit our "contributions" in order to not roast that half of the county. Don't want the fire to be seen from the space shuttle!
-
I'll be there, 1st time for me and I can't wait. Probably get there thurs. afternoon and stay through sunday and hope to meet as many of you guys as I can. Gonna camp and bringing the wife and dog, if dogs are allowed. The dog has good manners and behaves
himself, can't vouch for the wifes behavior though. >:D ..........Naw just kidding, she's fun to hang with.
See ya there. ;D
-
Cool Greg! You're definitely on my long list of folks that I want to shake hands and howdy with. I hope you guys get the chrono set up. I'm finishing up a red oak board bow that i started yesterday that seems like its gettin the job done exceptionally well. I'd kinda like to know just how well. Josh
-
12 more days. Getting closer and closer
-
Be looking for you there Josh, want to meet you also. I probably won't be near the chrono though, might end up disappointed with
the read out on my bows. Or worse yet I fear putting an arrow into the screen and breaking it. Yeah that will be my excuse not to
shoot thru it. ;)
-
Cool ,yes we talked about the Corno this weekend and will try and have that set for all you speed nuts. ;) ;D ;D Dogs are allowed but PLEASE.keep them on a leash and under control and by all means clean up behind them,if they don't like crowds you may want to re think bringing them. ;) :) We got a lot done this weekend, the shop is looking great, made some changes that should open it up a little and a new shower house, still only one at a time but man is it nice. :)
Pappy
-
T minus 11 and counting . . .

grandchildren and I are getting excited we were there last year just for sat. afternoon, the oldest girl is wanting to make her bow there this year, the youngest one well lets just say last year she found the creek and that's as far as she got, we did meet gary davis and he gave them encouragement, I brought some tank lids(johnstone) for knapping pit and will bring some more. both girls are playing ball so don't know how much time we will have.we had a great time and they have been talking about it all year.can't wait.
-
Cool rover, looking forward to seeing yall,ya the kids love the creek. ;) :) John/Josh
love the Tennessee colors on them arrows. ;) :) :)
Pappy
-
I need to make some arrows for the classic and was wanting to dye the feathers. I just hadn't decided on the colors. Pappy, you might have just helped me with that dicision. I think I'll go with blue and white. They'll be pretty easy to see and no UK arrows would want to get lost in TN. haha ;D
See ya'll soon, Dave
-
Lol! In all honesty the Tennessee colors were coincidental and completely unintended, but somehow fitting nonetheless. I would much rather be sporting TN colors than the red and blue of the jayhawks. Josh
-
Hey Pappy do need anymore cave art? Think I am going to do ABO knapping up there if it is allowed. My understand was that it is an ABO only flint knapping site!
-
Love some more,Will got it all cleaned up Saturday from the winter, forgot to ask how the art held up.He has a few more things to do,like add some chips and our new camp pole.Would love to have you do some more if you will. :) Blue and white cresting ??? :P :-[ >:D
Pappy
-
T minus 9 and counting . . .
-
I never did get to see that last year. But I will make it to it this year. I need all the mojo I can get ;)
-
I got the 42 cup coffee pot all cleaned up good last night Pappy, she is ready to perculate some coffee. It got hot when I plugged it in, so Im saying it works just fine. I also fabricated me a new cook awning last night. Those pop up's you can buy are crap if the wind blows at all, most end up in dumpsters 2 years later. I made this one on the circus tent concept. So far so good.
-
Cool Drums! Can't wait to see the canopy!
-
Matt's amazing article sure has brought some attention to the Classic! I can't wait to get there. I am importing a friend from Alabama to join me this year at the PA table so you all have to come and meet her and give her a very hard time!! Her name is Laura but her nick name is Sassy so she will fit right in with this crowd!
Pappy wants me to pick a time for a full photo. Do you all prefer Friday night or Saturday? either way it will be before the moonshine kicks in so that we don't have a picture full of goofballs... oh wait never mind moonshine or not it will still be a bunch of goof balls! >:D
Also PA has extended their huge spring clearance through the end of the Classic. You all might want to check it out. I sent a PM but I didn't put a link ( blonde moment coming from a brunette that just finally finished her taxes!) so here is the link to the main home page. http://www.primitivearcher.com The eMag is at an all time low price!! So are full sets.
-
Thank you, Marie for the kind words. Looking forward to seeing you and Sassy of course! We gonna see Luther again? Mike? Ed?
-
Don't think Luther or Mike are coming this year, some kind of business trip they can't get out of. As long as Marie is there we will be happy. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
-
If Marie is not there, I want a refund. ;D ;D
-
Soooooo close now!!!!! :)
Are we there yet...

Boy oh boy! Ive been going through my shop looking for trade and gift goods. I was amazed at how much stuff I have to bring down with me. Staves, wax, shafts, sinew, skins, feathers and a few almost bows.
Look out Twin Oaks, here we come! 10 more days.
-
This weekend is getting things together to bring also. Man how time is moving. Will see some of you next Friday, is not before ;)

Yep, trying to get some of my stuff together, also. :P Can't believe how fast this is coming!

By the way, Happy Birthday Matt.

Nice Kerry! You know I'll be pawing it over!
-
7 days (3.5 working) until I head south. I need to get some projects done first.
-
Dang, such a long haul from south central Texas, :-\
-
Lots coming from Texas,I think you would find it worth the drive 4dog. ;) :)
Pappy
-
it wont be long got mom and dad loaded up and ready to ride,,could only fit 200 staves in the bus,i need to find a train going that way to really bring a load, ;D
-
dug a few out
None of those staves look familiar to me right now, Kerry...but soon enough some of them are going to be on a first name basis with me!!!
-
Looking foreward to meeting you in person JW, Cant wait to see old freinds and makeing new ones. thats what its all about for me.
-
Jdub you will not be disappointed.Kerry,i will probably take more that i ordered.so pick me out some good ones.see you soon fellas.
-
Oh, I have already ruined some of Kery's high tone wood!
-
Will do, Steve. See everyone Soon.
-
See you soon, Kerry. Look forward to your pile.
-
Nice stack o staves Kerry! Kinda straight and clean for my tastes though >:D. I'd appreciate it if you would throw in an ugly one for me. You know I'm glutton for punishment! If your already full up, I'll probly catch ya at mojam. Josh
-
I will have some for you gun doc, always have to have some with character.
-
2 days and counting. I am going to leave Thursday and find a place to spend the night and then come in Friday. Not even going to try and push the drive in one day.....lol....and even then, I might not get there until Saturday...lol. See you all soon.
-
See you soon, Charlie. I've got something for you to look at.

Sounds great. I am so looking forward to seeing every one again. Even if I have to look real hard to find Seabass once the growd gets there.....see ya soon brother....lol
-
Alright Charlie I already had to get on to Roy about messin with you now I gotta get on to you for messin with my boy sea bass. I swear this place is like runnin romper room. Ron
-
You don't have to worry about me Cracker, cause you see, Seabass is the only one I can stand beside and feel tall!!!!!!!!!! One thing for sure about Steve, he sure don't have any quite in him. Those short legs can do some moving let me tell you.
-
T minus 3 . . .
-
thanks for sticking up for me Ronnie.Charlie,i am like a chihuahua.i think i am bigger than i really am.lol
-
I think we all have been there a time or two Steve. I know I have.
-
I got your back Steve. Us vertically challenged guys have to stick together ;D
-
Well me and the little guy will be pulling out Friday morning around 5. Can't wait to see all the regulars ( some aren't all that regular )and meet the newbes.
-
We'll be arriving around 6PM Friday. My wife Schuy (Sky) will be with me again this year. My friend Brian will be following us down. Brian came to my little gathering, went home and ordered a knapping kit. I expect he'll be hanging around the knapping pit most of the weekend. ;)
-
It will be Monday night for me....man I'm ready! I feel the stress leaving my body as I get closer to Clarksville. I agree with Kerryb...It's all about meeting like spirited people.
Lyle
-
Us challenged guys may need a group pic under this imaginary beam that seems to give some all the trouble!
-
I agree Matt. I would also like to see a group picture of all the tall guys with goose eggs.
I'm working a half day Monday and then heading down from there.
-
Packed my cloths and other items tonight. Tomorrow the camping gear. Friday morning grab the bows and quivers. Looks like around 58 hours till the Classic starts for me. :)
-
Cool! Thanks Kerry! I might even get a couple of them boring, perfectly straight and clean ones from you while I'm at it. For some reason my stash seems to be a little short on those kind. I packed my stuff in the ken-a-bago Monday morning or at least thought I did >:( I got all the way to Iowa before i remembered the two walnut staves, my grill and a couple other things that were in the back of my pickup. I guess that's better than last year when I forgot all my arrows ::). I'm headed for Henderson TN tomorrow. Its gonna be real hard to come straight back to ia when I'm gonna be that close. But the boss is promising that I will be there next week, so its all good! Josh
-
Great news Josh, call me when you get close so we can figure out if their is room
for that big rig in the bottom, what is the roof clearence ? Someone may have to come up and lift the sign going into the road down to the cabin. Got more staves
straightende and water/tea and big smoker grill delivered to the cabin yesterday.
Land scapping and mulch today,Still lots of little things but I think we can wind it all up Friday and Saturday or at least most of it. My list is getting shorter and I am sure all the guys are glad to hear that. ;) ;D ;D ;D See yall in a few days. :) My cell
615-456-5961,if I don't answer leave a message and I will get back ASAP. :)
Pappy
-
Packing and loading everything up today hopefully. I am going to drive if at all possible tomorrow to around Knoxville area and find a place for the night. Get up early and come in Friday. I am so looking forward to this trip. I can feel my strength going and it might be more of a sit and watch trip for me, but I will be there. Not a 100 percent, but hey, I have never been 100 percent right? See all you great people in a couple of days.
-
Got my lodge, bed and camping items packed. Just gotta get some clothes together, groceries and throw the bows/arrows and bowmaking tools in which I'll do today. Then its just waiting for #1 son to get out of school Friday.
-
She's just shy of eleven foot Pappy. I got a KW now with no stacks. My old Pete was 13' 3" so it would of been more of a problem. I got the map open to Tennessee, Will in the CD player, draw knife in the toolbox, knapping bucket in the closet, Halfeye's good medicine bow( and arrows) in the sleeper and a smile on my face a mile wide! Are we there yet!?!? Josh
-
Cool josh
-
Ill be down Tues. Get off work at 0700, home for a shower and on the road. Steve, if you and Bear would hold my spot up against the woods to the side of camp like last year, Id appreciate it. Campin in a new hammock camp this year! See yall in a few days. Anyone heard from the Knights?
-
I DONT KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE....BUT.....IM GETTING PRETTY FIRED UP OVER HERE!!!!!!!! ;D

-
Great Brian,I was sure hoping yall was still planing on it. ;) :) See ya in a week. :)
Pappy
-
I hate this waiting game, come on Friday.
Josh will make sure to leave you room behind me, save room for Dan, Cracker, Pearly, and ???
I plan on the square we always make, I'm pretty sure it's less of a foot print than pulling in and leaving room for awnings and stuff. But it's Pappy's Call. I also may try to move just alittle closer knees and back have been killing me here lately. Maybe Mark will let me bring the 4 wheeler for early week and park it as we get crowded.
-
Thx Bear. I do love the square. Makes for a nice backdrop for a campfire, some pickin, and crickwater. See yall in a few days.
-
All y'all need to cool it! I'm still looking at a week away and I'm gonna start grumbling if you keep rubbin it in my face! >:(

Scott
That makes two of us buddy!

Y'all who've been there before wanting a good camp site should know to GET THERE EARLY(I.e. before weds)...;) 8)

-
Thx Steve! See ya next week!
-
no prob Josh,we are gonna have a great time.see you soon bro.

This was my best Classic ever. Of course I said that last year to. I had so many great experiences. John helped me make a knife, I got a tour of Pappy's cabin, I got a bow from Matt Wirwicki, hung out with old friends, enjoyed some great music from Will and Mississippi Dave, added some arrows to my collection (thanks Pat, Pappy, Patrick, and John), got to see some great bows made out of some of my staves, enjoyed spending time talking to new friends Burn'em up Chuck, Hole in the Bow Chuck, Brother Dan, David Knight, Kevin, Ryan, Brad Berg, Stringman, Cardboard Duck, Paul, Gothmog and many many more. Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to most of you. I woke up and hit the road early today.
Here are a few pictures

Poor, poor Ryan............HAHAHAHAHAHA! What an amazing experience and worth every squirmy minute in the truck seat. It was awesome putting voices with names. Pappys cabin is so full of trinkets and do-dads a guy could look around for hours and hours at all of it. I added an arrow to the collection for him.
THANKS PAPPY!!
-
I had a great time even though I left friday afternoon... I met a lot of great people from the forum and had the opportunity to watch some great bowyers and knappers at work.
I even had a surprise :) Pearl Drums, Osage Outlaw, and Blackhawk walked up to my tent and threw some osage at me that I can't wait to tear into :) Thanks again guys!!!
-
We left Saturday morning. Buddy's tent collapsed on him twice during the night from the rain water and everything he brought got wet.
In the photo of the knapping pit near the top has me (my back, blue shirt) sitting between bonepile and Patrick Blank (jackcrafty). Man I got to get my fat ass on a diet!!!!
It was a great two days. I met some really great folks, learn a lot and had an overall great time. This needs to be an annual event.
-
For those that have never had the privilege of meeting Calendar Girl, she is in the photo above wearing a brown t-shirt and glasses talking to Patrick Blank.
-
My son Vincent and I just got back a bit ago and are working on drying everything out. What a trip it was. We had a great time meeting everyone and checking out the most awesome assemblage of wooden bows around. Thanks to everyone who helped put it together. I can't wait until next year. It was nice to finally put faces and voices to screen names as well. That has to be the best part of these events.
Dave
-
Dave, it was nice meeting you and your son. Thanks for the leather. I'll put it to good use.
-
Another great Classic.
Got to meet some old Friends.
Made some new Friends.
Had a Big-O time. ;D
Got home around 4:00 PM this afternoon.
David
-
Well this was my first trip to the Tenn Classic. I met alot of good knappers and bowyers. Gary Davis helped me make my first bow. Well I was sick all weekend and couldn't talk very well .I made alot of new friends. Thanks Pappy and all of the club members for all of your hard work putting this together. Well I came back to NC with a car full of osage. Well been wanting to do this for a long time. I plan on killing a deer with the bow I made this weekend. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks again Darren Webb
-
Clint, same here man, shoot me a pm with your address. I got an arrow picked out for you from this past year ready to ship to.
I also got to meet pearlie, Blackhawk, pappy, ridgerunner, beadman, raghorns, Gary Davis, will, Greg b, gun doc, badly bent, misslemaster, pat b, calandergirl, and I know a few others but the moonshine prevents me from remembering. O:). Im sorry if I left you out. I know mullet was there as well as matt wiriwicki but I never got to introduce myself. There is always next year.
I did get some rock from a trade with will and some buckthorn from Cody and Greg that I'm looking forward to and I think everyone got some wax from pearlies ears. It's just a shame pearlie was afraid of melting in the rain and had to leave before the toilet bowl knap off. Here are the only pics I got to take because my battery was always dead on my phone. Thanks again everyone!

Oh yeah, Osage hating Ryan was there too >:D
-
This was my first year at the Classic and I have to say it had to be one of the best weeks of my life. Made a couple bows, shot more than I ever have, forgot SOO many names, knapped for the first time. Just an unreal atmosphere. I still can't believe the camaraderie and generosity this community has. So good to meet many of you guys in person. My bed at home feels amazing but I'd sleep in my car for another week if it meant I could stay. Thanks to everyone working this week. Can't wait for next year! I may have to come down before then. ;D
And what do I have to say about osage? Bow wood is not a monarchy. IT'S A DEMOCRACY!!! >:D (as in the people. no, osage can't be president)
-
I made it home about 8pm tonight. It rained most of the way back and quite hard nearer to home. Over 4" in the last two days here with lots more to come. I'll get my pics uploaded as soon as I can and get the them posted.
It was so good to finally meet the folks with the names I've known for so long but never met. Some many generous folks! Thank you so much Twin Oaks Bowhunters. We all appreciate all the work you guys do to help us with our habbits and addictions. ;) You guys are the best and Twin Oaks Club and The Tennessee Classic can't be compared to anything I've ever seen or heard of. Its only 360 or so days until we will all do it again. I can hardly wait.
-
Just got home! All pumped up! :D
-
Just got home and am already waiting for next years. Had a realy good time. Many thanks to everyone that makes this event possible.
And for the second time i hauled my camera all the way there and then forgot to take a single picture. :o
-
Well, I made it safely home from my first Classic. I had to cut it a little short, but spent an entire week with the Twin Oaks boys. All I can say is "wow!" Great bunch of guys. Things got off to a rough start with the Tennessee twister coming through and dumping the hardest rain I've ever seen. I'm talking raindrops as big as horse terds. It washed out one of the swinging bridges going to the range, but couldn't dampen our spirits. Everyone pitched in, and in short order the bridge was repaired. I had the pleasure of meeting more and more great people as the week went on. The Wirwiki clan (including Weewiki with whom I had great conversations), Bear, Seabass, Osage Outlaw, Blackhawk, Missile Master, Ryan, String Stretcher, Stringman, Gary Davis, JW Halverson, and many others I can't recall. It's good to know that there is still genuine, good people around. I've never experienced as much giving and good times before. I walked away with Buckthorn from Cody, Osage from Outlaw, got hands on training from Blackhawk, a bow grip tutorial from Will H (and CDs), a John Price string and knife, a tour and stay in Pappy's cabin, as well as completing a bow for me and making one for my son. A great experience that I will never forget. Here are a few pics I managed to get.

Are we there yet >:D ....only 350 something more days  ;D
Nobodys words or pics can describe the classic...ya just gotta go to experience it to know ;)
-
The generosity was overwelming. I had some unbelievable experineces and none involved a bow in my hand. Its hands down the greatest collection of people in the world. My bro-in-law was in awe and cant wait to go back, and he isnt an archer or bowyer! That should tell you something about us as a comminity and the the Classic itself.
-
Once again a huge thank you to Pappy and the gang !
How can folks have so much fun even in the rain !!!
Good to meet up with a few more of my brothers !
Just hope I can get rested up and my stuff ready for Marshall !
Only 15 days till I do it all over again up there !
A fellow from Ill. told me he thought every good person in the world must have been at the Classic , he did not know there were so many good people !
Glad to be a small part of this community !
Hope to see some of ya in a few days !
A worthless old nut !

Got home about mid night Sunday, I got I up this morning an felt really weird because I wasn't heading to the knapping pit for another 12 hr. day. I had a great time as usual an got to put some faces to some names. Here is a few pics of some preforms an a few points that I manged to make this weekend, I wished I could get a pic of all the points that came out of there this weekend. The classic is truly an amazing experience and gets better each yr. Thanks Pappy an gang. Bob
-
Oops, forgot to mention meeting Pearl Drums and receiving some nice bees wax. Thanks dude!
-
X2 what Pearl drums and Buckeye Guy wrote. I never strung my bow. I have been shooting a bow for 60 years and have never been to an event as nice as this one with as many friendly people who did everything they could to help you out. Next year I will be coming down earlier in the week.
Pappy and crew: You did an outstanding job with the Classic. Looking forward to Marshall. Grayling and then Michigan's "classic", Elm Hall.
-
Ill have a little something for you in Marshall Jon... ;)
-
This was my first time at the TN Classic and it was amazing! First special thanks to Pappy and crew at Twin Oaks for the outstanding work to set up and run this event. Gary Davis was all over the work place as usual helping so many to build their bows. Matt Wirwicki was right there too with a helping hand to many as they worked on bows. I got to meet a bunch of folks from the PA site, Pat B, JW, Calendar Girl, and some others from the site I'd met before. It was a great time in spite of intermittent rain. I did manage to hack out a bow and shoot a round but mostly it was just so good to visit with kindred spirits. Extra special good to see my friends Hawk and Joe from WY - ahoa brothers.

Wow! What a great time! I got too shake hands and howdy with a lot of folks I think highly of, but had never met face to face. I finally got to meet Badly bent, Lesken2011, Parnell, Shaun, Hawkbow, Wolfwatcher, Hedgeapple, Pearly, cardboard Duck, JW and .... and .... and.... well, there's just not enough server space to name even the first time meetings. I also got to hang out with a lot of other folks that I have met previously but only see once or twice a year. As usual, the generosity was overwhelming to say the least! You guys that hooked me up with staves, stone, stringwax, shaft and a whole plethora of other goody's are the bee's knees! I ended up with an armguard and quiver from Sea Bass that is just awesome! How many of you are so enamored with your new bowstaves that you sleep with em? :o I don't mean under your bed, I mean actually on your bed while you sleep! Alright, I admit it, I only put them there because I had no other place to put them, but I didn't even cuss when I rolled over and cracked my nose on a sweet piece of Black Locust this morning. That's gotta count for something. It seemed like every time I went back to the Ken-a-bago to get a barley pop, there was something new leaning against it or on the seat! I would have to pull a flat bed trailer of goods down there to repay the kindness shown me. I am truly humbled by it all.
And then there's Pappy, Miss Joanie and the entire twin oaks crew. Man, I just don't have the words to express my appreciation for what you all do. I'm planning to come earlier next year and try to chip in where I can best be utilized. You folks make me feel like family and it would be an honor to get put to work with such as you.
I know there are so many more that deserve mention, but I would be typing all night to list you all. Rest assured, I enjoyed every second of comradery while I was there. Josh

Man what a great time, beautiful setting and friendliest people anywhere. My wife Sharon and I enjoyed it so much that most of the way home, (10 hour drive), we talked about the experience, the nice people and how we have to come back next year. Pappy was a
very gracious host and introduced me to some of the guys. Met Will H.,osage outlaw, misslemaster, Danznbar, Matt Wiricki, Pearl Drums, Buckeye Guy, Iowa Bow, Blackhawk, Old Hippy, Mississippi Dave, Pat B, Ryoon, J.W. and others. Got to spend some time getting to know Gun Doc. Shot some arrows and talked a little hunting with Hawk. Flung a few arrows with Dave (DVS) as well and
got to know him a little. Saw some of the fine bows that had been made by Will, Cody, Dave, Ryan, Pappy and others hanging from
the shop rafters.
Went home with feathers, shafts and beautiful snake skin from DVS as well as a beautiful and sturdy possibles bag that was made
by J.W. that will accompany me on many future hunting excursions. A Will Harrison cd also went home with us to remind us of
the good life that exist at Twin Oaks.
Thanks Pappy, Joanie and the whole Twin Oaks Gang.

This was a special trip for me this year, and the rewards were well worth the trip. I got to meet some of you I have talked to for so long and put a face to the name. I enjoyed every minute of my trip and stay at twin oaks. From Pappy and Miss Joanie, Matt and Heather, Dave and his wife, and every one else that I got to spend some time with either as new friends or old ones, I want to thank each and every one of you that gave me a memory to last my life. You all are a very special group of people and each of you prove that each time we meet. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one that attended the Classic, the best of wishes and more chances to share and create memories for each other. Thank you Twin Oaks and Primitive Archer

Im crying Charlie, that was perfect my friend.......
-
Had a great time visiting with you Charlie. We will do it again next year ;)
-
Badly Bent...........Enjoyed being neighbors at the Classic with you and your wife. Your bows were a pleasure looking at and holding in person. Beautiful finish work. Next Classic we'll have to get there before Wednesday to get a spot down the hill where all the action is.
Till next time,
DBar

We made it home with puppy in tow yesterday in the afternoon, we had a wonderful time as usual, my sincere thanks to Pappy and Jon, I never felt so secure as in the military Drash tent. To the people I saw from previous years, especially Jeff Utley and his son, Pat B, King Ron, Clint, Bear, Ronnie, Bob, and the rest of you wonderful people who make the classic just that.
I hope life is good to all of us and we can do this again soon.
I find myself rested and revitalized, ready to tackle life again, but my mind wanders back to last weeks fun and it makes me smile

Badly Bent
Give Sharon a hug and tell her how special she is !
Any gal that can sit and act interested listening to a worthless old nut ramble on is special for sure !
Hope to see ya again !
-
Bill, nice having you and John as camping neighbors as well and Smokey enjoyed your ribeye steak. :) We'll likely camp in the same spot next year, don't mind the walk up and down the hill but mostly because it didn't flood on top. :)
Guy, I'll give her that hug for ya. We both were pleased to be able to get to know you a bit and I assure you she enjoyed the visit
with you and we'll be looking for you again next year.

I have been reading in Primitive Archer Magazine and online for years about this so called "Tennessee Classic". Just another archery tournement, right?
Nope. Not at all. First off, the very strictly limited membership of the Twin Oaks Club ensures that the event goes off with the least possible number of hitches. They all bear down and work their butts off. I was up awful late and rolled out of my fartsack pretty darn early and still couldn't catch whoever it was that was doing all the clean-up around the place! I'm an obsessive trash-picker-upper....I might as well have left my hands back home!
Cleanliness is not my measure of a good time, not at all. I just use that to point out the organizational miracle this event represents.
It was also VERY family friendly, even long after dark. And before I forget, thank you both Mr and Mrs Wirwicki for letting me hold the WeeWicki. That little guy's blue eyes and ready smile performed a wonderful healing on my old broken heart.
Pappy, thank you for hosting me and making my stay so confortable. You are what they must mean when they talk about genteel Southern ways and being a gentleman. I remain in your debt.
-
JW, you are most welcome Sir. Wee-wicki attends all of the shoots with us and especially at the Classic he gets held by some of the greatest human beings on the planet. Ya'll are a part of our family and it gives Miss Heather and I great pleasure to be a part of it. It was wonderful to finally meet you JW in person. Hope our paths cross again.
-
Guess who had a better time than anyone? See below...these two were stuck like glue, shootin, eating, and just hangin out! The classic allowed these two to have grand old tme.
-
I agree John. Them two have become good buddies. I know Dylan misses Isaac, already.
-
How awesome is this picture?? JW and the Awesome 2nd timer but first time out of the belly Baby Wiricki. What a trooper!
I must say JW was very entertaining AND he keeps his word. I had the most awesomeness bottle of Red and wonderful dark chocolate as a gift. He even brought Sassy (some of you met her Sassyness) some chocolate. Thank you to Pappy for everything!!! I have group pics to post as well. Sassy went home with one of Pappy's pups. I think the pup thinks it died and went to heaven as he is now sleeping on a bed and the second he wimpers he gets picked up and coddled. Sassy is a SUCKER!! It was great to see everyone.
-
That Weewicki is the happiest baby I've ever seen. If everyone else was buisy he just entertained himself. The only time I heard him cry is when Heather wouldn't him eat rocks on Sunday morning.
That is a cool pic, Marie. 8)
-
Very cool picture,Marie I hope she still loves the pup after a week of his winning. ;) :) Right Pat ,I spent a week with him and he was always smiling.
We played hands,I would put my hand on his stroller top and he would push it off and then just laugh and smile. I think he would do that for hours. :) :) Takes after his daddy,Matt is always smiling and happy also. :)
Pappy

Great kid, that one. We had several conversations without either one of us knowing what the other said. :D
-
Yep I held the little one while we heat treated a bow lol
-
In 2 weeks I will get my time to hold Weewicki !
See ya in Marshall little buddy !
-
Thank you Marie, for posting that pic. Heather mentioned that she thought it was yourself who took the picture with JW. I was looking for one with the two of them. Could you please send me via email a copy of that pic?
Thank you all for the nice words towards my Wee-Wicki. I am truly fortunate.
-
That is a great picture. It even has the PA banner in the background.
-
I wish I could tell you all what that photo of me and Wee means to me, but it's something just too personal. Let's just say that there is a lot of healing and good medicine going on.
-
