I did not have enough time to post this bow earlier. It was made from old piece of black locust. Sneaky, curved, full of bumps, hills, knots and even one hole. It had ugly kink in the lower limb, something like big hinge. After a lot of work it came ot 60# 30". It started with 3" deflex and took almost no set. It is not heat treated. I am surprised with its early draw weight- it shouldn't have it with such a deflex. Maybe it is result of non-working inner limbs. There was no god angles to make photos because it is also and twisted. Shelf is some old bone found on Belyanica in one of the caves. As you can see it is in Manny style (I am his great fan and I am very glad he is here again ). 68" ntn, 1 3/5 wide, under 1/2 at nocks. One good thing about this bow- it is centershot and do not twist, regardless it twisted limbs. Pig fat finished.

You make your bow simple. I'm a big fan of the KISS method.

I love that front profile man! How does it shoot? Not to be offensive, but with those wide limbs it look like it has alot of mass in the outer limbs. I ask because I have been wanting to try something like that design but was wondering about the outer limb width creating some shock. Thanks for sharing.
-
Nice job on a tough challenge!
-
Thanks people!
JonW, outer limb are thiny (I will add pics tommorow, not very visible from these angle pics) except in last 2-3". Their mass is not high, for sure. If it has some shock- I do not feel it. I was shooting 1000 grein arrow and it was good.

Wow That bow sure is easy on the eyes
-
Now that is definitely some character. Love the bow, great job!

-

Great 60# full draw grimace :o
Looking at the belly and back of that bow with all that snake, I would never have expected the great tiller you got.... Great Job!!
-
What is the wrap on the limbs is it linen?
-
Awesome! Good work on a tricky piece to say the least. I've got some hackberry staves i'm itching to work on that have a very similar profile. You've inspired me!! One is already in progress that i have been heating and bending some to even things up a bit. These character bows are definitely addictive
-
Yes, awesome!
-
Great job on a tough peice of wood!
-
Druid, you are a bow making machine. I am always impressed with your work
-
That is mighty neat! I like the style. Sometimes it just all works out with those kinks and twists.
-
Wow, way to go figuring that one out ;)
-
...and he not only turns crooked sticks to bows, he makes them heavy weight, long draw and perfect arc!
-
Thank you very much my friends...bows like this will keep coming- about 70% of my stash are stave like this one. I avoid normal staves, they are borring to me.
Dazv, it is flax.
-
Druid,
Did you use Flax to Reinforce the limb?
Or is it purely Cosmetic?

There is ugly knot in one limb and I wrapped it. The other one is for symetric look. :o
