My family and I went up into Montana today to do some arrow slinging... this young bunny fell prey to the bow made for me by Whitewoodshunter, first blood on this bow and a really good time shooting bows with my family. We enjoy these family outings, I would encourage my fellow brothers and sisters of the bow to take your families along, to teach our young ones the gift of an honorable hunt and enjoy the wild paces is truly a gift I cherish. ;D ;D hope you all enjoy the pics. I am so glad you live so close to Montana so you can bunny hunt year round. I would really miss the pic this summer. It'll be Nov. before I can fling an arrow at bunny. But, turkey season starts in a couple weeks. I doubt that I will have my hickory bow finished by then. I do plan to use archery equipment for most of my hunts, even it it does have training wheels. :)

Hunting with the family is always a successful hunt.

60 inch 75 # at 28.. sinew and snakeskin backed hickory... and hits hard.. Hawk

Ouch, that makes my shoulder hurt. Congrats on an honerable harvest and a very nice family who enjoys all the good things together. Oh by the way what camera does Stacy have we have the new cannon digital SLR Up to 1/4000 sec and three frames per second if you have enough light. Kenneth

she has an old canon rebel xt 8 megapix.. Hawk
-
Yep them are awsome cameras.
-
Good to see you all enjoying time together. Watch him Stacey, don't let him get to attatched to that camera....Brokenhand....Aho.

Nice family outing Mike. 8)

Looks like your using blunts, what's the effect, I tend to think blunts frequently wound and don't kill well/fast and a lot of rabbits
-
I shoot a heavy bow.. sisty five pounds.. at 28 and use 44 mag shell casings... wrap sinew on the shaft so shells will fit tight.. add pine pitch or ferrile tite.. and you have a heavy weight forward bunny slayer.. they rarely ever get away.. the shock of the arrow kills quickly.. Hawk

Looks like a great time Mike. I've built my family bows and arrows and we shoot and hunt together too, even if they are already married and gone from home. Good huntin', and God Bless
-
Thanks brother... glad to hear from another brother of the bow who hunts with his family.. Hawk

looks like it was one hell of a good time
like you,i too get to bow hunt with the family, well most of it.
my oldest son never got into it.
but my wife and youngest have come bowhunting, with wheelie bows in the past.
i have a bow planned out to make for the wife this winter, and when both my sons are out of the NAVY i will have a bow or two for each of them.
whether or not they will decide to hunt with me,up to them but i hope they do.
keep up the good family times, kids grow up too damn fast to say "i wish we would have done ...... when they were still young"
-
A/ho brother... I hope your warriors will embrace the bowhunt with you when they get home. family in the outdoors is always great.. Hawk
-
Hawk,
It does my heart good to see families doing great things together! I hope you are enjoying rabbit stew at this moment. Thanks for sharing your outing with us.

i am jealous my friend. im trying to get my sister into archery but she isnt the same as me. dont see the world the same way. my dad is an exelent hunter, but he is a rigger and has been on 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, with one weekend per month off for the last year. he dosnt have time to get into something that eats up time like this dose. i do, however, have a really good friend, who i see as a brother, who enjoys the hunt the way i do......though he lacks the skill i have. ;D
looks like a great time afield. congrats man. ;D

That looks like a great time, It is so nice to have all of the family involved in such a great pursuit.
