I did something pretty stupid a few weeks ago, as I was cutting up some chicken for supper I tried sticking my knife in the cutting board and my greasy hand slipped and rode the blade all the way down severing my flexor tendon in my pinky. It's been about a week since my surgery and I'm mending well, but will miss hunting season this year. I'll be doing physical therapy for 8-12 weeks. Even then Doc says I may lose some dexterity in my finger. Worse yet, bow making is a no go for awhile. I digress, I am lucky to have a finger. Anyone up for some graphic pics?

Bummer . No hunting or bow making .Dr knows best.

Pics or it didnt happen bro!
Crap man, my hair stood on end as i felt the sickening pain as I read about your injury. Im glad you are ok. Please dont do that again.

Oglala,
You are supposed to be the cutter, not the cutee! Self surgery is not a good habit! Follow doc's orders and remember PT really means pain and torture, not necessarily physical therapy >:D. Get well quickly.

PT and dentistry are just ways of employing sadists ;D ;D ;D

Letting them critters fatten up some is a real good idea......think we may want to discuss how ya went about it though. Joe, you about as tough as they come so my money is on you sir. Love to swap some war-stories with ya.

The real test is not pushing the envelope and pretend like it's not an injury, which I'm prone to doing. Physical therapy and rest is the recommendation. Doc says, it's just one of those things that happens. In any case, Clint has been kind enough to upload the gruesome pics you monsters are wanting to see. Proof is in the pudding I guess.

Blood Sport. Shame on you guys :D
Nothing better than "The Red Badge of Cooking"
Heal fast and well Oglala.

Thanks Paul. I'm taking it all in stride. It does make for a cool story for my students. My versions change depending on what class I'm teaching. For example, k-2 goes something like this. I was rescuing kittens from a burning building and got hurt. Grades 3-5 is I got hurt shattering bricks in my dojo. And of course grades 6-8 is that I thwarted some muggers from attacking an old lady. I have to make the best of it somehow. JW thanks for the offer

Nice save on Obi Wan Kenobi in the last pic.

Come on! We military types would likely call it hand to hand combat - or a "dumb attack". Those darn dumbs is dangerous. >:D Btw, a tear gas grenade has -2 second fuse!! Trust me on that one! Been there done that! I'm a bit too far off to offer any hands on aid, but the thought is there. I know the healing process and the therapy regimen - just had my thumb rebuilt last winter, almost back to full function, but can sure tel, weather changes! Keep us posted, and if it hurts when you do that - don't do that.

I've taught all those grades except Kindergarten, so I find your explanations particularly amusing!

Well I had my first round of PT today with good results and exercises to take home and do everyday for a few weeks. In fact, they believe I'm healing just fine but need to not be overly confident I'm still at the "fragile" stage where lifting small things like coffee cups is a no no. Round two is coming up shortly. JW I may have to stop by for a cup of coffee.

Ouch... coulda been worse... it coulda been me >:D
