I've gotten quite a few bows shooting now, but it seems they are never finished. There is always something more I need to do to them. Well, finally, here is my first "finished" bow. An unbacked 66", belly tempered hackberry pyramid bow pulling 48@28" featuring side nocks, an endless linen string, a viking inspired painting on the back, with old futhark runes spelling JENSEN, sealed in natural flake shellac and a tooled leather grip. It did require some heat corrections to center the string, but I left everything else natural, including the natural bend in the bottom limb. This made it especially tricky to tiller, as it gives the strong appearance of a hinge, however I believe both from looking at the bends and examining the thickness taper, that it is not hinging. It draws smooth and has no hand shock and has taken no set. I've done enough sanding in my life so I built this without using any at all, only a draw knife, rasp, cabinet scraper, and burnisher. Thanks for looking!

Sorry for the poor picture quality and cropping, I've been wrestling with PA's file size.

I love the Viking art work. A very nice bow.
-
Nice detail work!

That looks great and I like how you finished it.
Now go finish the others you have laying around so we can see more. :)
-
Will do! Got two that are close! Check out my other thread on grips!

A fine looking bow. You should be pleased.

That is a cool bow. Really nice work on the grip and the markings.

Well done and congratulations! Jawge

Really pretty finish work. How is it shooting? Are you getting a good feeling from shooting it compared to what you are used to? Congrats!
-
Nice bow and art work. Well done sir!

It shoots pretty nicely. Smooth draw and no hand shock. I don't shoot often since I got my mulberry bow shooting, which is what I will be working on today.

Really nice Bow- well done! :)

It turned out really nice. Obviously you have a knack for art work.
-
Nice job and finish work, looking forward to seeing the Mullberry also. :)

Nice work Eli! Loving the leather work. Your recent grip post inspired me to do a little leather stamping on a bow I just wrapped up. I didn't attempt anything as intricate as you are doing here, but maybe with some more practice.
Keep up the great work!

Turns out some thing that intricate is easy to tool but dying is a real pain

Awesome Bow. I totally get the whole "not yet finished " thought process. There always seems to be something I want to do with my latest bow. I think, for me, it's tough to let them go. Nice work.

Very nicely done.

I am shocked to hear that a bow can ever BE finished!
Lovely work sir!
