I'm looking for some buckskin for pants, I have a few things I'd trade. Even goods not of our primitive world lol.
-
Really?? No one buckskins anymore?
-
I have some finished skins that I am saving up for pants, or I would be up for a trade. There are about nine skins in my garage that still need softening. My buckskinning has been on hold for a while - sorry!

Don't have anything right now. Hoping to do some this winter. I know there's guy's on here that do em, but there's a good bit of work envolved.

I attempted once and I thought at the age of 30 I thought It was gonna be the end of me!
-
Yup...that's why I haven't finished all the skins in my garage!

There's gotta be a relatively easy way, last time I tried was in winter and it gets waay too dry in Iowa to attempt.

It isn't really SO bad once you get into a rhythm. For me it's just a lack of large, uninterrupted chunks of time right now. If I get a couple more done, I will let you know!

Sounds like time for a zen brain tanning party! We used to get a lot done with steaks and beer for an incentive. I think you can do a hide in 6 - 8 hours, with 4/5 people dividing tasks, and switching off. On the other hand, I think I have a bunch of antelope hides waiting to be worked and no gumption to work them! No big barrel to soften them in either!

I've got as many 55 gal steel drums for the rest of my life. And a river that's 100 yards away.
