I've started doing a bit of knapping this past few months and had some success. My early points are serviceable but not that great. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it though. My latest attempt are quite sharp and I wouldn't hesitate to use them hunting, although not that great looking. They are just under 1" wide, about 1 1/2" long and less than 1/4" thick. Here's a pic

-
Look fine to me Marc.

Looking real good Marc. All they have to do is cut and stick. They ought to do the trick.
-
look good man, all that matters is sharp and pointy ;D
-
Not bad at all. You even serrated the edges. It took me forever to learn how to do that! What material did you use?
-
Thanks guys.
I don't know what the material is. It's something that Paul gave me a couple years ago. Very nice stuff and it flakes well. It's black with blue streak going through it. I assumed it was chert. I don't have a side view right now but will get one.

Nice job Marc, They will do the job, believe me.

Them look good Marc!! Reminds me of me a few years ago when I'd sit in a hotel room after work on the road and work my hands raw with my homemade pressure flaker. I tell ya, I was eat up with it and was going to learn come hell or high water ;D. I still got lotsa rocks if your gettin low...

Yes I have some of Paul's Onandaga. This stuff is really nice. I have also done a few points out of glass. It's pretty easy to knap.
Thanks cowboy. I've got quite a few pounds of this stuff from Paul plus some Onandaga that he gave me but I wouldn't say no to more. What would you like to do for a trade?
