I usually decide that about 3 days before I go. Every time I think I found one, I build 3 more! I do have a leading contender that seems to be lingering since its conception.

last yrs bow i gave to my brother in law...he )fell in love with her...he.let me harvest a doe from his property...not with the bow though...lol...so i figured it was a fair trade...this yrs bow...is a better bow though...lol

This is one I plan on hunting this fall, "Lil Thumper". She's 56" t/t, 56#@26" with Texas Diamondback water snake over 2 layers of cow sinew. I'll probably be shooting poplar arrows or maybe hill cane with stone or trade points.

Yeh, I reckon that ought do ok, Pat B.
4dog, careful hunting in copperhead country with that bow. You might lay it down and pick up something a little more whip tillered by mistake!
-
I was hunting GA with a copperhead skin backed bow years ago and got run out of my treestand by a brown thrasher...two evenings in a row. Walking back to camp the second evening I realized it was the copperhead the brown thrasher was after, not me. ;D
-
Probably this one. Won't know for sure until the time comes.

That's a halfeye bow, I was looking at it not long ago for inspiration

Crogacht, You got that right! Rich's bows are recognized internationally...My next project is a bendy inspired by halfeye... ;) I'm very pleased with it...Will hunt...

You got that right,
Haha so is mine :D
If you're going to master the piano, you don't play mary had a little lamb, you play Beethoven. I figure it's the same with bows, luckily we have a lot of masters around here to study :D

-
As of now I'll probably use this bow. It already knows what to do ;D

These two are riding around for 6 weeks with me this fall. The first one is a lovely gift from Pauly "The Tin Knocker" Sempre-something-or-another. The last is a bow I made up and is the subject of my above quote. Havent decided who my starter is yet. Both shoot identical arrows and both have identical POI for me.
-
niiiiice kill osage...pearlie would be hard to stay with just one.

Take both to the stand and let the moment decide.

That is quite the compliment Chris. When i gave it to you at Marshall I felt like it wasn't performing like it did for me at home. I'm glad it came around for you. Guess it just needed the right arrows.
-
It shoots a mean arrow Pauly. I wouldn't hunt with it if it wasn't perfect.
-
I always like to start out with a good assortment of bows and arrows/heads,for me they all shoot about the same or I work on them until they do , :) so it just depends on the mood I am in on which one I grab for the hunt. :) :)

Well... I am hunting in 10th century attire this season, but my bow I do not have a proper period longbow built yet (got some stellar wood while working on a logging crew this summer that is now curing!!!!). SO... I will likely be using this osage flatbow but with different arrows and quiver...

Here is the start of my arrows for this season. They are goose fletched with glue and linen thread. Nocks are reproduction bronze nocks from originals unearthed at Haithabu. Points will be forged and attached with glue, sinew, and a thin birch bark wrapping to cover the sinew and glue.

I like your gear there Isaac, you'll be hunting in style with that set-up.

I've already been out for a couple of weekends in the Coast Range hunting elk. I've been carrying around "Compadre" my yew take-down. I almost had a shot at a curious cow. There just a few to many sticks between me and her lungs. I couldn't take the shot. Going out again this weekend. Hopefully I'll get a shot.
